If it be the Feast of an

Apostle, Martyr, or

Confessor, here say,

Assist us to follow Thy saints in overcoming sensuality by mortification, avarice by almsdeeds, anger by meekness, and lukewarmness by devotion.

Enable us to follow their prudence in our undertakings, their courage in danger, their patience in affliction, and their meekness in prosperity.

Grant that, like them, we may be punctual at our devotions, temperate at our meals, diligent in our employments, and constant in good resolutions;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord.

And that Thou wouldst mercifully give us perseverance in Thy grace and holy service, and unite us for ever to Thyself with the blessed company of Thy saints and holy angels;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord.

O Christ, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.
Jesus, model of meekness and humility;

Jesus, model of purity and innocence;
Jesus, model of simplicity and truth,
Hear our prayers.

Jesus, pattern of meekness and gentleness;
Jesus, pattern of submission and obedience;
Jesus, pattern of charity and goodwill to men,
Graciously hear us, and have mercy upon us.

Then all say,

UR Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Here may be said the Prayer which is to be used when there is Holy Communion (see Sunday Morning Prayers, page 11). Then he says the Collect for the particular Festival celebrated;* and on the Saints' - Days which fall during the season of Advent or Lent, he here says the Prayers which are to be said at those seasons (see pages 48, 49).

We celebrate with thankfulness the patient suffering and heroic devotion of Thy saints, who have glorified Thee in their lives and by their deaths.
