ELIGION teaches, that Vice leads

to endless mifery in a future ftate ; and Experience proves, that in spite of the gayeft and most profperous appearances, inward misery accompanies her; for, even in this life, her ways are ways of wretchedness, and all her paths are woe.

This obfervation has been fo often made, that it must be known to all, and its truth is feldom formally denied by any; yet the conduct of men would fometimes lead us to fufpect, either that they had never heard it, or that they think it falfe. To recal a A 2 truth
