The poor have received in Clothing material, and by pay- 1,535 14 7 From the two last items it will be clearly proved that we are by no means a RELIEF SOCIETY, when the scope of our work is observed, but eminently one which "helps the poor to help themselves." We have, however, received this year 1697. for Superannuated Workers, 6067. for Sickness and Special Cases -total, 7757.; less 575l. as over, and the remainder has been transferred to Supplies in Sickness (see p. 386), administered by the NURSES. BIBLE SALES. The Bible sales of the year have still been satisfactory, and almost equal to those of 1877 In 1877 they amounted to 11,516 copies, at a cost of 1,5751. In 1878 11,215 1,4547. We notice gladly the Ladies' districts in which have been sold the highest number of Bibles, divided as last year; they The PIONEERS' DISTRICTS in which the most Bibles have been In 30 districts, as above, over 100 copies have been sold— Some of the latter are New Districts.
