4 What though our sins are manifold,
Supreme His mercy reigneth:
No limit can His hand withhold,
Where evil most obtaineth.
He the good Shepherd is alone,
Who Israel will redeem and own,
Forgiving all transgression.

According to Thy mercy remember Thou me.

Ps. xxv. 7.

10 Thou, from whom all goodness flows,
I lift my soul to Thee;

In all my sorrows, conflicts, woes,
Good Lord, remember me!

2 When on my fearful, burden'd heart
My sins press heavily,

Thy pardon grant, Thy peace impart:
Good Lord, remember me!

3 When trials sore obstruct my way,
And ills I cannot flee,

Oh let my strength be as my day;
Good Lord, remember me!

4 When worn with pain, disease, or grief,
I pray for help to Thee;
Give patience, rest, and kind relief;
Good Lord, remember me!

5 When in the solemn hour of death
I wait Thy just decree,

Be this the prayer of my last breath,
Good Lord, remember me!

Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out. JOHN vi. 37.

74

1 Just as I am, without one plea

But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come!

2 Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind,
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come!

3 Just as I am, though toss'd about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fighting within and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come!

4 Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come!

5 Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down,
Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come.

In that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted. HEB. xi. 18.

1 When gath'ring clouds around I view,
And days are dark, and friends are few,
On Him I lean, who, not in vain,
Experienced every human pain:
He sees my wants, allays my fears,
And counts and treasures up my tears.

2 If aught should tempt my soul to stray
From heav'nly wisdom's narrow way,
To flee the good I would pursue,
Or do the sin I would not do;
Still He, who felt temptation's power,
Shall guard me in that dang'rous hour.

3 And, oh! when I have safely pass'd
Through every conflict but the last,
Still, Lord, unchanging, watch beside
My dying bed, for Thou hast died:
Then point to realms of cloudless day,
And wipe the latest tear away.

Lord, help me. MATT. XV. 25.

1 O help us, Lord, each hour of need,
Thy heavenly succour give;

Help us in thought and word and deed,
Each hour on earth we live.

2 O help us when our spirits bleed,
With contrite anguish sore;

And when our hearts are cold and dead,
O help us, Lord, the more.

3 O help us through the prayer of faith, More firmly to believe,

For still the more Thy servant hath,
The more shall he receive.

4 O help us, Jesu, from on high, We know no help but Thee;

O help us so to live and die,

As Thine in heav'n to be.

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of Hosts. MAL. iii. 7.

1 Come, ye lost and broken-hearted,
Ye who have from God departed;
Come, return, your guilt confessing;
Come, implore your Father's blessing;
Still in love and grace delighting,
He is now your souls inviting:
Lo! His Son He sends to bless you;
Let no doubt nor fear oppress you.
2 Now your hearts no longer harden;
Seek, whilst He forbeareth, pardon :
From the cross to you He crieth,
There for you He groaneth, dieth!
From their doom your souls restoring,
All His wounds for you imploring:
Look and live, ye broken-hearted,
All who have from God departed.
3 Now His table He prepareth;
There His love the sinner shareth:
There the wounds of sin He healeth,
And Himself to faith revealeth.
There He life and strength reneweth,
And with grace our souls endueth :
Come, oh come, ye broken-hearted,
Ye who have from God departed.

I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit. ISA. lvii. 15.

1 Oh! for a heart to praise my God,
A heart from sin set free;

A heart that's sprinkled with the blood
So freely shed for me.

2 A heart resign'd, submissive, meek,
My dear Redeemer's throne;
Where only Christ is heard to speak,
Where Jesus reigns alone.

3 A humble, lowly, contrite heart,
Believing, true, and clean;

Which neither life nor death can part
From Him that dwells within.

4 A heart in ev'ry thought renew'd,
And fill'd with love divine;

Perfect, and right, and pure, and good,
A copy, Lord, of Thine.

5 Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart,
Come quickly from above;

78

Write Thy new name upon my heart,
Thy new best name of love.

That great city, the Holy Jerusalem. REV. xxi. 10.

1 Jerusalem! my happy home!

Name ever dear to me!

When shall my labours have an end,
In joy, and peace, and thee?

2 When shall these eyes thy heav'n-built walls
And gates of pearl behold?
Thy bulwarks, with salvation strong,
And streets of shining gold?

3 Oh, when, thou city of my God,
Shall I thy courts ascend,

Where God Himself shall be thy light,
And joy shall never end.

4 Why should I shrink at pain and woe?
Or feel, at death, dismay?

With Canaan's goodly land in view
And realms of endless day?
