3 With open face and joyful heart, We there shall see Thee as Thou art; Our love shall never cease to glow, Our praise shall never cease to flow.
4 Thy never-failing grace to prove, A surety of Thine endless love, Send down Thy Holy Ghost to raise Our souls to Thee in love and praise.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life. I TIM.
1 Oft in danger, oft in woe,
Onward, Christians, onward go; Bear the toil, maintain the strife, Strengthen'd with the Bread of Life.
2 Let not sorrow dim your eye, Soon shall every tear be dry; Let not fears your course impede; Great your strength, if great your need.
3 Let your drooping hearts be glad; March, in heavenly armour clad; Fight, nor think the battle long, Soon shall victory tune your song.
4 Onward then to glory move, More than conqu❜rors ye shall prove; Though opposed by many a foe, Christian Soldiers, onward go.
5 Hymns of glory and of praise, Father, unto Thee we raise; Praise to Thee, O Christ, our King, And the Holy Ghost, we sing.
1 Thro' all the changing scenes of life, In trouble and in joy,
The praises of my God shall still My heart and tongue employ.
2 Of His deliv'rance I will boast, Till all that are distrest
From my example comfort take, And charm their griefs to rest.
3 O magnify the Lord with me, With me exalt His Name; When in distress to Him I call'd, He to my rescue came.
4 The hosts of God encamp around The dwellings of the just; Deliv'rance He affords to all Who on His succour trust.
5 O make but trial of His love, Experience will decide,
How blest they are, and only they, Who in His truth confide.
I will not leave you comfortless. JOHN xiv. 18.
1 Holy Spirit, Lord of Light, From Thy clear celestial height, Thy pure beaming radiance give: Come, Thou comfort of the poor, Come, with treasures which endure, Come, Thou light of all that live!
2 Thou, of all Consolers best, Visiting the troubled breast,
Dost refreshing peace bestow; Thou, in toil, art comfort sweet, Pleasant coolness in the heat, Solace in the midst of woe.
3 Light Immortal, Light Divine, Visit Thou these hearts of Thine, And our inmost being fill: If Thou take Thy grace away, Nothing pure in man will stay; All his good is turn'd to ill.
4 Heal our wounds; our strength renew; On our souls pour down Thy dew; Wash the stains of guilt away; Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen; warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray.
And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light. Exod. xiii. 21.
1 Guide us, O Thou great Jehovah!
Pilgrims through this barren land; We are weak, but Thou art mighty; Hold us with Thy powerful hand: Bread of heaven,
Feed us till we want no more.
2 Lead us to the living Fountain, Whence the healing waters flow; Let the cloud and fiery pillar Guide us all our journey through; Mighty Saviour,
Be Thou still our strength and shield.
3 When we tread the verge of Jordan, Bid our anxious fears subside; Bear us through the swelling waters, Land us safe on Canaan's side; There in glory
Shall Thy ransom'd flock abide.
Lord, teach us to pray. LUKE xi. 1.
1 Lord, teach us how to pray aright, With rev'rence and with fear; Though dust and ashes in Thy sight, We may-we must draw near; We perish if we cease from prayer; O grant us power to pray ! And, when to meet Thee we prepare, Lord, meet us by the way.
2 Burthen'd with guilt, convinced of sin, In weakness, want, and woe, Fightings without, and fears within, Lord, whither shall we go? God of all grace, we come to Thee For broken, contrite hearts: Give what Thine eye delights to see, Truth in the inward parts.
3 Give deep humility,-the sense Of godly sorrow give,— A longing, lowly confidence To see Thy face and live,- Faith in the only sacrifice
That can for sin atone,
To cast our hopes, to fix our eyes, On Christ,-on Christ alone.
4 Patience to watch, and wait, and weep, Though mercy long delay,- Courage our fainting souls to keep, And trust Thee, though Thou slay : Give these-and then Thy will be done : Thus strengthen'd with all might, We, through Thy Spirit and Thy Son, Shall pray, and pray aright.
1 Lift up your heads, eternal gates, Unfold to entertain
The King of glory; see, He comes With His celestial train.
2 Who is the King of glory? who? The Lord for strength renown'd; In battle mighty, o'er His foes Eternal victor crown'd.
3 Lift up your heads, ye gates, unfold In state to entertain
The King of glory; see, He comes With all His shining train.
4 Who is the King of glory? who? The Lord of hosts renown'd;
Of glory He alone is King,
Who is with glory crown'd.
God is gone up with a merry noise; and the Lord with the
sound of the trump. Ps. xlvii. 5.
1 God is gone up on high, With a triumphant shout;
The clarions of the sky Angelic joys ring out:
