folemn vows we have this day made unto the Lord. Let us not think, when the Sacrament is over, that the work is ended. Having begun our journey, let us not wander in the wilderness, and lofe fight of the heavenly Canaan. Comfort our hearts under. the hardships of our pilgrimage Cheer our minds in the wafte and howling defert: Bear us up under the fwellings of Jordan, and bring us in fafety to the promised land. May the gospel become effectually unto us the glad tidings of great joy, by conveying to us the pardon of all our fins, and peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

"For these purposes, send thy holy Spirit to abide with us for ever. Sanctify us to thy fervice; fubdue the power of fin in our hearts; fave us in the hour of temptation, and preserve us to thy heavenly kingdom. Let not the fuggeftions of a carnal mind, nor the folicitations of fenfual pleafure, nor the allurements of a corrupted world, feduce us from the path that conducts to glory and immortality. In prosperity may we reflect, that too often a

ferpent lurks among the flowers: in adversity may we be enabled to fee thy mercy fhining through the cloud; and be convinced that we are in the hands of infinite Wisdom, who knows what is best for us, and will make all things work for our good. May we fill our ftations with integrity, with usefulness, and with honour, holding fast the teftimony of a good conscience.

"We would humbly offer up our prayers in behalf of thefe our native lands. Preferve the liberties of the British constitution inviolate to the lateft pofterity. O thou who art King of kings, and Lord of lords, we commend to thy protection, thy fervant his Majefty King GEORGE. Endow him from on high, with all princely virtues; place wife counsellors around his throne, men actuated with the fear of God, and with an ardent zeal for the good, the liberty, and the glory of the people. Bless our gracious Queen CHARLOTTE, his Royal Highness GEORGE Prince of Wales, and all the other branches of the Royal Family. Blefs all in high rank and autho

rity. May they adorn the ftations they poffefs, and by their influence and example, form the manners of the people to virtue. Blefs thy fervants the ministers of the everlasting Gospel. May they be endued with the Spirit of their Master, and preach the good Word, not from vanity and oftentation, nor to gain the praises of men, but from a regard to the welfare of fouls, from the love of truth, of godliness, and of Thee.

"We humbly offer up our prayers in behalf of this congregation. Let the light of thy countenance be lifted up upon them; and bless all ranks, high and low, rich and poor. Guide and direct them by thy counfel, while here below; and at laft receive them unto thyfelf, that where thou art, there they may be alfo, enjoying blessedness at thy right hand for evermore.

"Grant us all, we beseech thee, that we may partake of the spirit of our holy calling, and exercise the virtues of our heavenly ftate. Raise our affections from earth to heaven, and may we become fol

lowers of those who, by their faith and patience, are now inheriting the promises. Let not an inordinate affection to earthly objects withdraw our eyes from heavenly things, or diffolve our connection with the joys above; but may we live on earth as the citizens of heaven; may we pafs through things temporal, fo as not to neglect things eternal. May we walk in the world as becomes the dignity of the rational character, as becomes the fanctity of the religious profeffion, and the purity of the Christian hope.

"Oh! that it may be the ftedfaft purpofe of our lives, to hold fast our integrity fo long as we shall live. Let not the fear of evil, nor the fashion of the world, nor the vain splendour of life, turn us afide from the right path. In every department of duty, may we approve ourfelves unto thee; and in every fituation of life, may we poffefs that peace of mind which the world cannot give, and cannot take away. May we pafs through life unfpotted from the world, and end our days in innocence and peace.

"Be

"Be with us now in finging praises to thy name; and come forth with us in the evening, to worship again before thee, and to hear inftructions from thy holy word. Now to the Father, Son, and holy Spirit, be glory, and honour, and praise, for ever and ever."

Amen.

PSALM CXXi.

I I To the hills will lift mine eyes,
from whence doth come mine aid.
2 My fafety cometh from the Lord,

who heav'n and earth hath made.
3 Thy foot he'll not let flide, nor will
he flumber that thee keeps.

4 Behold, he that keeps Ifrael,

he flumbers not, nor fleeps.

5 The Lord thee keeps, the Lord thy fhade
on thy right hand doth stay.

6 The moon by night thee shall not smite,
nor yet the fun by day.

7 The Lord fhall keep thy foul, he shall
preferve thee from all ill.

8 Henceforth thy going out and in
God keep for ever will.
