MR. BUCKINGHAM having terminated all the Course of Lectures, which he had announced for delivery in the Metropolis, including those at the City of London Tavern, Bishopsgate-street; at the Crown and Anchor, in the Strand; at the City Concert Rooms, Finsbury Circus; at the Freeemasons' Tavern, Lincoln's Inn Fields, Almacks' Rooms, St. James'-square; and at the Great Concert Room of the King's Theatre, Haymarket: thus affording to the resident inhabitant of every quarter of the Metropolis, an opportunity of acquiring ample information on the question of the Indian Monopoly, and all its evils, had intended leaving London on the 25th, to proceed to Scotland and Ireland, from each of which he had received very cordial and pressing invitations. This intention was publicly announced in the Sun,' and the "Globe,' of the 22d inst., and as the time seemed then to admit of its practicability, Mr. Buckingham further announced his intention of passing through Bristol on the 26th, Birmingham on the 27th, Leeds on the 29th, and Manchester on the 30th of June: Liverpool on the 1st, Glasgow on the 3d, and Edinburgh on the 5th of July; at each of which places he purposes delivering a single Lecture, containing new and important matter on the India Monopoly, preparatory to his entering on his regular course in Edinburgh on the 6th.

This intention was, however, unexpectedly protracted by a sudden and severe illness, arising out of the effects inseparable from such an uninterrupted course of mental and bodily fatigue. On the day of the last Lecture, at the King's Theatre, (the 23d,) the number and animated spirit of the audience having tempted to greater exertions than usual; and much previous exhaustion and debility having been already experienced, Mr. Buckingham was seized with an illness, which has confined him to his bed from that day to the present. It was at one period thought dangerous; but, by skilful treatment and repose, that danger has been removed; and hopes are now entertained of his health being very shortly re-established.

Mr. Buckingham's present intention is, to avail himself of the earliest period of his convalescence, to visit Scotland and Ireland, as originally intended; and he hopes that he will be able to commence his course of Lectures, in Edinburgh, on the 13th of July at the latest; and to proceed to other places, as speedily as time and other circumstances may permit.

The interests of THE ORIENTAL HERALD, and the great cause to which it is devoted, will, at the same time, be an object of his continued attention: as he has now relinquished all other engagements or pursuits, literary or political, and all connection with any existing publications whatever, excepting this work alone—so that, through the influence of his personal exertions in the country, added to the periodical concentration, in these pages, of every thing that can illustrate the object of his labours, here or elsewhere, he hopes that every succeeding month will give THE ORIENTAL HERALD stronger claims on public attention in England; and, by advancing the cause of Free Trade, and the consequent improvement of the Eastern World, become more and more entitled to the general approbation and support of its readers in both hemispheres.
