THE ACADEMIC ALGEBRA BY WILLIAM F. BRADBURY, A. M. HEAD MASTER OF THE CAMBRIDGE LATIN SCHOOL, AND GRENVILLE C. EMERY, A. M. MASTER IN THE BOSTON LATIN SCHOOL. TEACHER'S EDITION. BOSTON: THOMPSON, BROWN, AND COMPANY, 23 HAWLEY STREET. RVARD IVERSITY 47x130 Copyright, 1800, BY WILLIAM F. BRADBURY AND GRENVILLE C. EMERY. University Press : PREFACE. A GREAT part of the profit, and nearly all the pleasure, in the study of Algebra are lost if the pupil is assisted in working the exercises and solving the problems. Whoever does for a pupil what he can do for himself does him an injury. This Teacher's Edition, therefore, is not designed for the use of pupils. But very many teachers have not the time to work out all the exercises and problems given in a book like The Academic Algebra. To assist such teachers is the special design of this work. The authors have endeavored to present the best models in the reduction of the equations, and the simplest and briefest solutions of the problems. CAMBRIDGE, MASS., July, 1890. W. F. B. G. C.
