(G.) THE COMMITTEE ON THE REPORT OF THE EVEREST FUND, Find, that the present amount of the Fund including the Legacy of Dr. Solomon Everest who died in the year 1802; and that of his Widow who died in 1843, amounts to $7,081.89. In the judicious and careful management of the faithful Treasurer, Benjamin Ely, Esq., the Fund has been gradually increasing for a number of years, notwithstanding the regular appropriations made annually to charitable objects prescribed by the Donors. The object to which the avails of this Fund are to be applied according to the Will of Dr. Everest, and those prescribed in the second Legacy over the same, are Missions, the education of pious young men for the ministry, and the charitable distribution of Bibles. The care of the Fund and the distribution of the annual proceeds, are committed to the discretion of a Board of Trustees, annually appointed by the General Association. For a number of years after the commencement of this distribution, the Committee made an annual report to this Body of their proceedings, distinguishing, particularly, the young men whom they assisted as beneficiaries. The present practice seems to be to pay over to the public societies, having in view the same objects, the annual proceeds of the Fund, and no report is made to this Body but that of the Treasurer. The Committee would respectfully submit, that the former course ought to be restored. Suffield, June 17th, 1847. THOMAS ROBBINS. STATISTICS.
