life which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

15.

ECCLESIASTICUS xxxiv. 15-17.

Blessed is the soul of him that feareth the Lord. To whom doth he look ? and who is his strength? For the eyes of the Lord are upon them that love him. He is their mighty protection and strong stay; a defence from the heat, and a cover from the sun at noon; a preservation from stumbling, and a help from falling. He raiseth up the soul, and lighteneth the eyes; he giveth breath, life, and blessing.

16.

REVELATION vii. 12; PSALM cxlviii. 1, 13; cvi. 2-46. Blessing, glory, wisdom and thanks, power and might, be unto our God for evermore.

O praise the Lord of heaven, praise him in the height. O praise the name of the Lord; his name is excellent, and his praise above heaven and earth.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and world without end; and let all the people say, Amen.

17.

REVELATION xiv. 13.

Blest are the departed who in the Lord are sleeping, from henceforth for evermore: they rest from their labours, and their works follow them.

18.

PSALM XXV. 6, 7.

Call to remembrance, O Lord, thy tender mercy and thy loving-kindness, which have been ever of old. O remember not the sins and offences of my youth; but according to thy mercy think thou on me, O Lord, for thy goodness.

19.

PSALM lv. 22; cviii. 5; xxv. 3.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. He will never suffer the righteous to fall he is at thy right hand.

Thy mercy, Lord, is great, and far above the heavens. Let none be made ashamed that wait upon thee.

20.

ISAIAH lv. 7; PSALM CXVI. 1-5.

Come and let us return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon us; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me; the pains of hell gat hold upon me ; found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the Lord. Gracious is the Lord and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. Who is like unto the Lord our God?

MATTHEW xi. 28, 29.

Come unto him all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and he will give you rest. Take his yoke upon you and learn of him; for he is meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

22.

MATTHEW xi. 28-30.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is

light.

23.

MATTHEW XXV. 34; PSALM lxviii. 32.

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Praise the Lord, all the whole earth. Amen.

PROVERBS viii. 1, 4, 17, 32-34.

Doth not wisdom cry, and understanding put forth her voice? Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Now, therefore, hearken unto me, O ye children; for blessed are they that

[blocks in formation]

Hear instruction and be wise, and Blessed is the man that heareth me,

watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

25.

PSALM cxliii. 2.

Enter not into judgment with thy servant, O Lord; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

26.

Father of heaven, in whom our hopes confide, Whose power defends us, and whose precepts

guide;

In life our guardian, and in death our friend;
Glory supreme be thine till time shall end.

27.

JOHN xii. 15, 13.

Fear not, daughter of Zion: lo! thy King cometh. Blessed is he that cometh in the name

of the Lord. Hosanna.

28.

JOEL ii. 21-23, 26.

Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for the Lord will do great things. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength. Be glad, then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the

Lord your God. The floors shall be full of wheat, and ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt so wondrously with you.

29.

REVELATION xiv. 13.

For ever blessed, from henceforth, are they which die in the Lord. Thus the Spirit saith to us; that they may rest from all their labour and sorrow. Their works of good and evil shall be requited.

30.

PSALM xvii. 1, 2, 7.

1. Give ear unto me, Lord, I beseech thee; for I have walked in thy commandments. Let me be judged with righteous judgment. O let my sentence come from thy presence.

2. O shew thy loving-kindness, thou that art the Saviour of them that trust in thee.

REQUIEM ÆTERNAM,

Give unto the pure in heart peace and rest for evermore; and let perpetual light shine on thy people. Thou, Lord, art praised in Sion; our vow, Lord, shall be performed in sincerity. Hear our petition: unto thee shall all flesh come. Let our cry come unto thee. Spare and deliver us. Shew thy mercy unto us. Hear us, good Lord, and grant our prayer.
