The object of this compilation of Sacred History, is to fix a lasting and indelible impression upon the mind; by making the young Pupil acquainted (in a plain and concise manner) with the most momentous portions, from the Creation of the World to the promulgation of the Gospel by the Apostles, &c.

OLD TESTAMENT.

The Creation of the World and History of Mankind

before the flood.

The world was created 4004 B. C.

QUESTION. Who made the world ?

ANSWER. In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth and all living creatures.

Q. Who is God?

A. A Spirit: and we are to serve Him in spirit and truth.

Q. How did God make the world?

A. By His word: for He commanded and it came into being. Q. What did God call the light and the darkness?

He called the light, day; and the darkness, night. Q. What did He call the firmament? A. Heaven. Q. What did He call the dry land ? A. Earth.

Q. For what purpose did God make the sun, moon, and stars ?

A. To give light upon the earth; and to make our days, months, and years.

Q. What creatures did He make to live in the firmament?

A. Fowls and birds of every species.
