AT that time: Jefus croffed over the fea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias: and a great multitude followed him, because they faw the miracles he wrought on those that were difeafed. Jefus therefore went up a mountain : and fat there with his difciples. And the Paffever, a feast of the Jews, was near. When Jefus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and faw that a very great multitude was coming to him, he faid to Philip: Where fhall we buy bread for these people to eat? And this he faid to try him, for he knew what he was going to do. Philip anfwered him: Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not enough for them, for every one to have only a little piece. One of his difciples, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, faith to him: Here is a boy that hath five barley loaves, and two fifhes but what are thefe among fo many? Then Jefus faid: Make the men fit down: for there was a great deal of grafs in that place. Then the men fat down, being in number about five thousand. Then Jefus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed them to thofe that were fat down: as likewife of the fifhes, as much as they had a mind for. And when they had eat enough, he faid to his difciples: Gather up the fragments, which are left, that they may not be loft. They gathered them up therefore, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which were left by those who had eaten. Then those

men, having feen the miracle wrought by Jefus, faid: This is certainly the prophet, who is to come into the world. And when Jefus perceived that they were about to come and take him by force to make him King, he withdrew again alone into the mountain. CREDO.

Then the king faid: The one faith: 'Tis my child which is alive, and thine is dead and the other replieth: No; but 'tis thy child is dead, and mine is alive. And the king faid: Bring me a fword. And a sword being brought before the king, he faid: Divide the child that is alive in the middle, and give half to one and half to the other. Then the woman, that was the mother of the living child, faid to the king, (for her bowels were moved for her child) I beseech thee, my Lord, give her the child alive, and kill it not. But, on the contrary, the other faid: Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the king answered and faid: Give this woman the child alive, and let it not be killed, for fhe is the mother of it. And all Ifrael heard of the judgment the king had given, and they feared the king: for they faw the wifdom of God was with him to do juftice.

Then the Jews anfwered and faid to him: What fign fheweft thou, that thou doest these things? Jefus answered and faid to them: Deftroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then the Jews faid: This temple was fix-and-forty years building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? But he spoke of the temple of his body. And when he was rifen from the dead, his difciples remembered he had faid this, and they believed the fcripture, and what Jefus had faid. And being in Jerufalem at the Passover on the festival-day, many believed in his name, feeing the miracles he did. But Jefus trufted not himself to them, because he knew all men, and needed not any fhould inform him concerning man: for he knew what was in man.
