keep Eternity continually in view; and, under the guidance of thy Holy Spirit, may we be followers of them who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises.

Hear us, we pray thee, and answer us in mercy, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Redeemer.

LET it please thee, O Lord, graciously to remove from us, in due time, the afflictive dispensation with which thou hast visited us; in the mean time give us patience under our suffering, and grant that it may be sanctified to our real and everlasting good, for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord.

WE thank thee, O Lord, for thy care over us in travelling; and we beseech thee to lead us by a right way to the city of habitation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A MORNING PRAYER TO BE USED IN PRIVATE.

O LORD God Almighty, thou art the King eternal, immortal, invisible: thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Enable me to approach thee in humility, reverence, and godly fear.

Remembering that thou art a Spirit, may I have grace to worship thee in spirit and in truth. I come before thee, O Lord, in the Name, and through the mediation of Jesus Christ; hear me, for his sake, and answer me according to the multitude of thy mercies.

Forgive, I beseech thee, all my sins past, through the atoning sacrifice of thy beloved Son. Give me true repentance, and unfeigned contrition of soul, under a deep conviction of my native guilt and manifold transgressions.

Grant that I may have a lively faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Saviour of sinners. Trusting in Him as my own Saviour, may I have peace with thee through him, and that peace of conscience which those only

can enjoy, whom thou hast made accepted in the Beloved.

Teach and instruct me by thy Holy Spirit. Sanctify me wholly, that I may serve thee faithfully and acceptably, and cheerfully devote myself to thee in heart and soul. Purify my affections; elevate my desires; and let my conversation be in heaven. Give me grace effectually to resist the temptations of all my spiritual adversaries, and to adorn the doctrine of God my Saviour in all things.

Sanctify to me all the dispensations of thy Providence; and enable me diligently to do, and patiently to suffer, whatever in thy wisdom thou shalt see fit to appoint for me.

I thank thee, O Lord, that thou hast preserved me through the past
