thee for grace to help and mercy to save, then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive the sin of thy servant. Sanctify me in the use of all the means of grace which I may be partaker of this day, and sanctify those means to my use, that I may grow in grace, and in the knowledge and love of my Lord and Saviour. Give me a hearing ear and an understanding heart, that I may give most earnest heed to the word of instruction which may be spoken by thy ministering servants, and grant that whatever I shall profitably learn I indeed fulfil the same. may Thus build me up in my most holy faith, and keep me by thy power through faith unto salvation.

Bless all Christian Ministers and people, and increase their numbers in this and in all places. Be present wherever two or three are gathered together in thy name, and extend the knowledge of this name to the uttermost parts of the earth, that all

nations whom thou hast made may come and worship before thee and glorify thy name. Give wisdom and spiritual understanding to the King of these realms, to all that are in authority under him, to all our spiritual pastors and teachers, and to all sorts and conditions of men. Pour down thine especial blessing upon all my relations, friends, and acquaintances; [here mention parents or others as the case may be] Let thy mercy follow them and me through every changing scene of life, and bring us all to thine everlasting kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name and words I further address thee.

Our Father, &c.

FOR SUNDAY EVENING.

O MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS LORD GOD, I thy humble servant beseech thee to receive my tribute of praise and thanksgiving for the benefits and blessings, temporal and spiritual, which I have this day enjoyed. And while I acknowledge, with a deep feeling of gratitude, the protection I have experienced, and the blessing which thy bounty has bestowed, I would especially record thy goodness in granting me the means of grace and the hope of glory.

I humbly thank thee for the opportunity I have had this day of attending thee in thy house and service. Grant that I may neither have prayed in vain nor heard in vain, nor offered the sacrifice of fools, who know not that they do evil, but of the wise in heart who shall see God. Pardon my wan

derings and imperfections, my sins and infirmities, and bless to my use the ordinances of religion which I have been partaker of, and grant that through the profitable use of these means, I may not only have the hope of glory, but the full enjoyment, in that blessed place where Sabbaths never end.

That I may be prepared for that eternal Sabbath of rest which remains for thy people beyond the grave, may I profitably learn from thy word and Ministers, and fulfil the same in my life and conversation, and may I grow in grace and in wisdom as I grow in stature and in years, and, like my Saviour in his youth, in favour both with God and man. Give me increasing delight in thy service on this day, and preventing grace that I may never turn away my foot from thy Sabbath, but always callita delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and may honour thee in thine ordinances, neither

finding my own pleasure, nor speaking my own words. And in this frame of mind may I be found in the hour of death and on the day of judgment.

What I ask for myself, I ask for all sorts and conditions of men, that thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among nations; especially I would beseech thee for all that I love and care for, [my parents or others]. Bless them with thy grace and heavenly benediction, granting them in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. And now, O Lord, to thy fatherly care I commit myself and all my concerns, humbly hoping that thou wilt keep me from all harm, and grant me refreshing rest in sleep, for Jesus Christ's sake, my Lord and only Saviour. Amen.
