33 And he thall fet the fheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then thall the King fay unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Fa ther, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was fick, and ye vifited me: I was in prifon, and ye

came unto me.

37 Then fhall the righteous anfwer him, faying, Lord, when faw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirfty, and gave thee drink? 38 When faw we thee a stranger, and took thee in or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when faw we thee fick, or in prifon, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall anfwer, and fay unto them, Verily I fay unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of thefe iny brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then thall he fay alfo unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye curfed, into everlasting tire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in naked, and ye clothed me not: fick, and in prifon, and ye vifited me not.

44 Then thall they alfo anfwer him, fay ing, Lord, when faw we thee an hungered, or athirit, or a firanger, or naked, or fick, or in prifon, and did not minifter unto thee?

45 Then thall he anfwer them, faying, Verily I fay unto you, in as much as ye did it not to one of the leaft of these, ye did it

46 And thefe fhall go away into everlafting punishment: but the righteous into life

3 The rulers confpire againft Chrift: 14 Judas
Jelleth bim. 17 Chrift eateth the paffover.
A
ND it came to pafs, when Jefus had fi-
nithed all thefe fayings, he faid unto
his difciples,

2 Ye know that after two days is the feaft of the paffover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

3 Then affembled together the chief priests, and the fcribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

4 And confulted that they might take Jefus by fubtilty, and kill him.

5 But they faid, Not on the feaft-day, left there be an uproar among the people.

6 Now when Jefus was in Bethany, in the houfe of Simon the leper,

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head as he fat at meat. 8 But when his difciples faw it, they had Indignation, faying, To what purpofe is this wafte

10 When Jefus understood it, he fai? unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for the hath wrought a good work upon me.

II For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

12 For in that the hath poured this oint ment on my body, the did it for my burial.

13 Verily I fay unto you, Wherefoever this gospel thall be preached in the whole world, there thall alfo this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

15 And faid unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of filver.

16 And from that time he fought oppor tunity to betray him.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the difciples came to Jefus, faying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the pallover?

18 And he said, Go into the city to fuch a man, and fay unto him, The mafter (aith, my time is at hand; I will keep the paffover at thy houfe with my difciples."

19 And the difciples did as Jefus had ap pointed them; and they made ready the paffover.

20 Now when the even was come, ne fat down with the twelve.

21 And as they did eat, he faid, Verily Ifay unto you, that one of you fhall betray me.

22 And they were exceeding forrowful, and began every one of them to fay unto him, Lord, is it !!

23 And he answered and faid, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the fame fhall betray me.

24 The Son of Man goeth, as it is written of him; but woe unto that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, an. fwered, and faid, Master, is it I? He said unto him, thou hatt faid.

26 And as they were eating, Jefus took bread, and bleffed it, and brake it, and gave it to the difciples, and faid, Take, eat; "this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks and gave it to them, faying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new tefta. ment, which is thed for many for the remiffion of fins.

29 But I fay unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you i my Father's kingdom.

30 And when they had fung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

31 Then faith Jefus unto them, All ye fhall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will fmite the thepherd, and the sheep of the flock fhall be fcattered abroad.

32 But after I am rifen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter anfwered and faid unto him, Though all men thall be offended becaufe of thee, yet will I never be offended.

S. MATTHEW.

He is delivered to Pilate

34 Jefus faid uuto him, Verily I fay unto Jefus, led him away to Caiaphas the high thee, That this night, before the cock crow, prieft, where the fcribes and the elders were thou halt deny me thrice. affembled.

3: Peter faid unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Jikewife alfo faid all the difciples.

36 Then cometh Jefus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and faith unto the difciples, Sit ye here, while go and pray yonder.

37 And he took with him Peter and the two fons of Zebedee, and began to be for. rowful and very heavy.

38 Then faith he unto them, My foul is exceeding forrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, faying, O my Father, if it be poffible, let this cup pafs from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 And he cometh unto the difciples, and findeth them afleep, and faith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the fleth is weak.

42 He went away again the fecond time, and prayed, faying, O my Father, if this cup may not pafs away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

43 And he came and found them alleep again for their eyes were heavy.

44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, faying the fame

words.

45 Then cometh he to his difciples, and faith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your reit: behold, the bour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of finners.

46 Rife, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with fwords and faves, from the chief priests and elders of the people,

48 Now he that betrayed him gave them aign, faying, Whomfoever I fall xifs, that fame is he; hold him faft.

49 And forthwith he came to Jefus, and faid, Hail, Mafter; and kiffed him.

50 And Jefus faid unto him, Friend, where fore art thou come? Then came they and laid hands on Jefus, and took him.

51 And, ochold, one of them, which were with Jefus, ftretched out bis hand, and drew his fword, and ftruck a fervant of the high priest's, and fmote off his ear.

:

52 Then faid Jefus unto him, Put up again thy fword into his place for all they that ke the word fhall perish with the fword. 53 Thinkeft thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall prefently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 But how then thall the fcriptures be

fulfilled, that thus it must be ?

55 In that fame hour faid Jefus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with fwords and ftaves for to take me! I fat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

66 But all this was done, that the fcriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the difciples forfook him, and fled. 67 And they that had laid hold on

58 But Peter followed him afer off, unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and fat with the fervants to fee the end.

59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, fought falfe witness against Jefus, to put him to death;

60 But found none: yea, though many falfe witneffes came, yet found they none. At the laft came two falfe witneffes,

61 And faid, This fellow faid, I am able to deftroy the temple of God, and to buill it in three days.

69 And the high priest arofe, and faid ut. to him, Anfwereft thou nothing? what is at which thefe witnefs against thee?

63 But Jefus held his peace. And the high priest answered and faid unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Chrift, the Soa of God.

64 Jefus faith unto him, Thou haft faid: nevertheless, I fay unto you, Hereafter thall ye fee the Son of Man litting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, faying, He hath spoken blafphemy; whit further need have we of witnesses) behold, now ye have heard his blafphemy.

65 What think ye? They answered and faid, He is guilty of death,

67 Then did they fpit in his face, and buffeted him; and others fmote him with the palms of their hands,

68 Saying, Prophefy unto us, thou Chriff, Who is he that fote thee!

69 Now Peter fat without in the palace; and a damfel came unto him, faying, Thou alfo waft with Jefus of Galilee.

70 Eut he denied before them all, faying, I know not what thou fayeft.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid faw him, and faid in to them that were there, This fellow Wal alfo with Jefus of Nazareth.

72 And again he denied with an oath, do not know the man.

73 And after a while came unto him they that flood by, and faid to Peter, Surely t alfo art one of them; for thy fpeech bewr eth thee.

74 Then began he to curfe and to fwi faying, 1 know not the man. And immed ately the cock crew.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jefus, which faid unto him, Before the c crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Chap. xxvii. trayed the innocent blood. And they faid, What is that to us? fee thou to that.

5 And he caft down the pieces of filver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

6 And the chief priefs took the filver pieces, and faid, It is not lawful for to put shem into the treafury, because it is the price of blood.

7 And they took counfel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury ftrangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

9 (Then was fulfilled that which was fpoken by Jeremy the prophet, faying, Andthey took the thirty pieces of filver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Ifrael did value;

10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.)

11 And Jefus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, faying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And Jefus faid unto him, Thou fayeft.

12 And when he was accufed of the chief priests and elders, he anfwered nothing.

13 Then faith Pilate unto him, Heareft thou not how many things they witaefs against thee?!

14 And he answered him to never a word; infomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

15 Now at that feat the governor was wont to releafe unto the people a prifoner, whom they would.

16 And they had then a notable prifoner, called Barabbas.

17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate faid unto them, Whom will ye that I releafe unto you? Barabbas, or Jefus, which is called Chrift?

18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

19 When he was fet down on the judgment feat, his wife fent unto him, faying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have fuffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

20 But the chief priests and elders perfuaded the multitude, that they thould atk Barabbas, and destroy Jefus.

21 The governor answered and faid unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I releafe unto you? They faid, Barabbas.

22 Pilate faith unto them, What shall I do then with Jefus, which is called Chrift? They all fay unto him, Let him be crucified. 23 And the governor faid, Why? what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, faying, Let him be crucified.

24When Pilate faw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, faying, I am innocent of the blood of this juft perfon; fee ye to it. 25 Then answered all the people, and faid, His blood be on us, and on our children.

26 Then releafed he Barabbas unto them and when he had fcourged Jefus, he delivered him to be crucified.

27 Then the foldiers of the governor took Jefus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of foldiers.

28 And they tripped him, and put on him fcarlet robe.

Chrif crucified.

29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, ard reed in his right hand; and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, faying, Hail, king of the Jews!

30 And they fpit upon him, and took the reed, and fmote him on the head.

31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his crois.

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, A place of a skull,

34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tafted thereof, he would not drink.

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, calling lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vefture did they caft lots.

36 And fitting down, they watched him there:

37 And fet up over his head his accufation * written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him; one on the right hand, and ano ther on the left.

39 And they that paffed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

40 And faying, Thou that deftroyeft the temple, and buildeft it in three days, fave thyfelf. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41 Likewife alfo the chief priests, mocking bim, with the fcribes and elders, faid,

42 He faved others, himself he cannot fave. If he be the King of Ifrael, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

43 He trufted in God: let him deliver him now, it he will have him: for he faid, I am the Son of God.

44 The thieves alfo, which were crucified with him, cait the fame in his teeth.

45 Now from the fixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jefus cried with a loud voice, faying, Eli, Eli, lama fabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why haft thou forfaken me?

47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, faid, This man calleth for Llias.

48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a fponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

49 The reft faid, Let be, let us fee whe ther Flias will come to fave him. 50 Jefus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghoft.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent.

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of faints which flept arofe,

$3 And came out of the graves after hi refurrection, and went into the holy city and appeared unto many.

Chrift's refurrection.

He appeareth to the womth. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as fnow.

S. MARK. 34 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him watching Jefus, faw the earthquake, and thofe things that were done, they feared greatly, faying, Truly this was the Son of God.

55 And many women were there behold ing afar off, which followed Jefus from Galee, ministering unto him;

56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Jofes, and the mother of Zebedee's children.

57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathea, nan.td Jofeph, who alfo himself was Jefus's difciple:

58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jefus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

59 And when Jofeph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

so And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the fepulchre, and departed.

61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, fitting over against the fepulchre.

62 Now the next day that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priefts and Pharifees came together onto Pilate,

63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver faid, while he was yet alive, After three days 1 will rife again.

64 Command therefore, that the fepulchre be made fure until the third day, left his difciples come by night, and fteal him away, and fay unto the people, He is rifen from the ricad: fo the lait error shall be worse than the first.

65 Pilate faid unto them, Ye have a watch; go your way, make it as fure as ye can.

66 So they went and made the fepulchre fare, fealing the ftone, and fetting a watch. CHAP. XXVIII.

x Chrift's refurre&tion: 9 he appeareth to the women, 16 and to his dijciples, 18 and fendeth them to baptize.

N the end of the fabbath, as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to fee the fepulchre.

2 And, behold, there was a great earth. quake: for the angel of the Lord cefcended from heaven, and came and rolled back the Hone from the door, and fat upon it.

4 And for fear of him the keepers did thake, and became as dead men.

5 And the angel anfwered and faid unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye feek Jefus, which was crucified.

6 He is not here; for he is rifen, as he faid. Come, fee the place where the Lord lay:

7 And go quickly, and tell his difciples that he is rifen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there hall ye fee him: 10, I have told you.

8 And they departed quickly from the fepulchre with fear and great joy, and did run to bring his difciples word.

9 And as they went to tell his difciples, behold, Jefus met them, faying, All hail. And they came and held him by the ref and worthipped him.

10 Then faid Jefus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they into Galilee, and there hall they fee me.

11 Now when they were going, behold, fome of the watch came into the city, and thewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

12 And when they were aflembled with the elders, and had taken counfel, they gave large money unto the foldiers,

13 Saying, Say ye, His difciples came by night, and itole him away while we slept. 14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will perfuade him, and fecure you.

15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this faying is com monly reported among the Jews until this day.

16 Then the eleven difciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jelus had appointed them.

17 And when they faw him they wor hipped him: but fome doubted.

18 And Jefus came and fpake unto them, faying, All power is given unto me is heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Fathe and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghoft;

20 Teaching them to obferve all thing whatfoever I have commanded you: and 1 am with you alway, even unto the endd

11 And there came a voice from heaven, faying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

13 And he was there in the wildernefs forty days tempted of Satan; and was with the wild bearts: and the angels miniftered unto him.

14 Now after that John was put in prifon, Jefus came into Galilee, preaching the gofpel of the kingdom of God,

15 And faying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gofpel.

16 Now as he walked by the fea of Galilee, he faw Simon, and Andrew his brother, cafting a net into the fea: (for they were fithers:)

17 And Jefus faid unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fifhers of men.

13 And straightway they forfook their nets, and followed him.

19 And when he had gone a little further thence, he faw James the fon of Zebedee, and John his brother, who alfo were in the fhip mending their nets.

20 And itraightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the fhip with the hired fervants, and went after him. 21 And they went into Capernaum; and ftraightway on the fabbath-day he entered into the fynagogue, and taught.

22 And they were attonithed at his doc trine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the fcribes.

23 And there was in their fynagogue a man with an unclean fpirit; and he cried out,

24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jefus of Nazereth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25 And Jefus rebuked him, faying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

26 And when the unclean fpirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27 And they were all amazed, infomuch that they questioned among themfelves, faying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean fpirits, and they do obey him.

28 And immediately his fame fpread a broad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the fynagogue, they entered into the houfe of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30 But Simon's wife's mother lay fick of a fever; and anon they tell him of her.

31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and the ministered unto them.

32 And at even, when the fun did fet, they brought unto him all that were difcafed, and them that were poffefled with devils.

32 And all the city was gathered together at the goor.

He beateth the pally.

34 And he healed many that were fick of divers difeafes, and caft out many devils; and futtered not the devils to fpeak, because they knew him.

35 And in the morning, rifing up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a folitary place, and there prayed."

36 And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him.

37 And when they had found him, they faid unto him, All men feek for thee.

38 And he faid unto them, Let us go in. to the next towns, that I may preach there alfo for therefore came I forth.

39 And he preached in their fynagogues throughout all Galilee, and caft out devils.

40 And there came a leper to him, befeeching him, and kneeling down to him, and faying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canft make me clean.

41 And Jefus moved with compaffion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and faith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

42 And as foon as he had fpoken, imme diately the leprofy departed from him, and he was cleanfed.

43 And he ftraitly charged him, and forth. with fent him away;

44 And faith unto him, See thou fay nothing to any man; but go thy way, thew thyfelf to the priest, and offer for thy cleanfing those things which Mofes commanded, for a teftimony unto them.

45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, infomuch that Jefus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in defert places; and they came to him from every quarter.
