CHAP. VI.

Concerning the DUTY of MAN to
GOD.

"A'

In GENERAL.

LL the Ends of the World fhall remember and turn unto the Lord: all Dominions fhall ferve, and obey him.

b All Nations whom thou haft made, fhall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and fhall glorifie thy Name.

As I live, faith the Lord, every Knee shall bow to me, and every Tongue fhall confefs to God.

d None of us Tiveth to himself, and no Man dieth to himself. For, whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: Whether we live, therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. And we are not our own; for we are bought with a Price. Let us therefore glorifie God, in our Body, and in our Spirit, which are God's.

e Let us have Grace whereby we may ferve God acceptably; ferving him with our Spirit, in the Gospel of his Son.

a Let us, alfo, prefent our Bodies a living Sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable Service..

b For the Love of Chrift conftraineth us, who died for all; that they, which live, should not, henceforth, live unto themselves, but unto him. which died for them, and rofe again,

Wherewith fhall I come before the Lord, and bow my felf before the High God? Shall I come before him with Burnt-Offerings, with Calves of a Year old? Will the Lord be pleafed with thousands of, Rams, or ten thousands of Rivers of Oil? Shall I give my First-born for my Tranfgreffion, the Fruit of my Body for the Sin of my Soul?: He hath fhewed thee, O Man, what is good; and, what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do juftly, and to love Mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.

d The Grace of God, that bringeth Salvation, hath appeared to all Men; teaching us, that de nying Ungodlinefs, and worldly Lufts, we fhould live foberly, righteously, and godly in this prefent World.

e The Lord hath defired Mercy, and not Sacrifice; and the Knowledge of God, more than Burnt-Offerings.

f What God hath cleanfed, that call not. thou common.

& Meat commendeth us not to God: For, neither if we eat, are we the better; neither if we eat not, are we the worse. For, the Kingdom

of God is not Meat, and Drink; but Righteoufnefs, and Peace, and Joy, in the Holy Ghoft. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatfoever ye do, do all to the Glory of God.

a Whatfoever ye do, in Word or Deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

b Stand faft in the Liberty, wherewith Chrift hath made us free, and be not intangled again with the Yoke of Bondage.

The Wicked have faid, Who is Lord over us? Through the Pride of their Countenance, they will not feek after God: God is not in all their Thoughts. Thy Judgments, O Lord, are far above out of their Sight: for they fay, the Lord feeth us not, the Lord hath forfaken the Earth And none of them faith, Where is God, iny Maker?

d But they that have thus forgot, or contemned God; and the Enemies of Chrift, which would not that he should reign over them, fhall be turned into Hell.

e Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only fhalt thou ferve.

f Prepare your Hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only. Take heed to your felves, that your Heart be not deceived, and ye turn afide, and ferve other Gods, and worship them.

8 Thus faith the Lord, Thou fhalt have no other Gods before me. Thou shalt know no

God but me.

• Turn

a Turn ye not unto Idols, nor make to your felves molten Gods. Neither worship Idols of Gold, or Silver, or Brafs, or Stone, or Wood, which neither can fee, nor hear, nor walk.

b Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven Image, or any Likeness of any Thing that is in Heaven above, or that is in the Earth beneath, or that is in the Water under the Earth. Neither fhall ye fet up any Image, to bow down unto it; the Similitude of any Figure, the Likeness of Male or Female, the Likenefs of any Beaft, Fowl, Fish, or any thing that creepeth on the Ground. For Idols are Vanity, the Work of Errors: Molten Images are Wind, and Confufion: and, they are without Excufe, who, when they know God, worship him not as God, but change the Glory of the uncorruptible God, into an Image, made like to corruptible Man, and to Birds, and fourfooted Beafts, and creeping things.

c Take ye good heed unto your felves, left ye corrupt your felves, and left ye lift up your Eyes unto Heaven, and, when ye fee the Sun, and the Moon, and the Stars, even all the Hoft of Heaven, ye fhould be driven to worship them, and ferve them.

d If I beheld the Sun when it fhined, or the Moon, walking in Brightnefs, and my Heart hath been fecretly enticed, or my Mouth hath kiffed my Hand; this were an Iniquity to be punish'd by the Judge; for I fhould have denied the God that is above.

a Have no Fellowship with Devils; neither worship them; nor be Partakers of the Table of Devils. For, what Communion hath Light with Darkness? And, what Concord hath Chrift with Belial?

b Let no Man beguile you of your Reward, in a voluntary Humility, and worshipping of Angels, or Men of like Paffions with you.

c Dearly beloved, flee from Idolatry; and ferve the living and true God, who made Heaven and Earth; and worship no other God. Neither do ye Service unto them, which, by Nature, are no Gods; nor change the Truth of God into a Lie; nor ferve the Creature more than the Creator; for the Lord is a jealous God.

d O Lord our God, other Lords befides thee have had Dominion over us; but by thee only, will we make mention of thy Name. For, every one which feparateth himself from thee, and fetteth up Idols in his Heart, fhall bear the Punifhment of his Iniquity.

e Ye fhall not use Inchantment, nor observe Times.

f Regard not them that have familiar Spirits; neither feek after Wizards, to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.

g There fhall not be found among you, any one that useth Divination, or an Obferver of Times, or an Inchanter, or a Witch, or a Charmer, or a Confulter with familiar Spirits, or a
