a We have heard with our Ears, o God, our Fathers have told us, what Works thou didft in their Days, in the times of old.

b For, as the Earth bringeth forth her Bud, and as the Garden caureth the things that are sown in it, to spring forth, so the Lord God hath caused Righteousness and Praise to spring forth before all Nations.

c The whole Earth is full of his Glory, and Riches; and they that go down to the Sea in Ships, these see the Works of the Lord, and his Wonders in the Deep.

d The Lord is King for ever and ever, and his Dominion is an Everlasting Dominion.

e Hę ruleth by his Power for ever; let not the Rebellious exalt themselves.

f He is the Blessed, and only Potentate ; The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords: The One Lawgiver, who is able to save, and to deAtroy.

& Who hath given him a Charge, over the Earth? Or, who hath disposed the whole World ? Who teacherh like him? Or, Who hath enjoyned him his Way? He worketh all things, after the Counsel of his own Will; and he giveth not account of any of his Matters.

with other He is the ONLY GOD.

a God is one; The Lord, is the true God; he is God alone. The Lord our God, is one Lord.

b The Lord, he is God, in Heaven above, and upon the Earth beneath ; there is none else.

c The Lord, he is God; there is none else besides him : Before him, there was no God formed, neither shall there be after him.

d Tho' there be, that are called Gods, whether in Heaven or in Earth ; yet, to us, there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.

e All the Gods of the People, are Idols; which, by Nature, are no Gods: They cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do pod, For, we know, that an Idol is nothing in the World; and, that a Graven Image is profitable for nothing; and, that there is none other God but One.

There is NONE LIKE him.

f Who is like unto thee, O Lord? Who is like thee, glorious in Holiness, fearful in Praises, doing Wonders ?

8 To whom shall we liken God? or what Likeness shall we compare unto him? or to whom Ihall he be equal ?

a Who

a Who, in the Heaven, can be compared unto the Lord? who, among the Sons of the Mighty, can be likened unto him ?

b Thou art Great, O Lord God, there is none like thee; neither are there any Works like unto thy Works.

c Ámong the Gods, there is 'hone like unto thee, O Lord; there is no God, like thee, in Heaven above, or on Earth beneath.

• There is none like thee, in all the Earth: Among all the Wise Men of the Nations, and in all their Kingdoms, there is none like unto thee, O King of Nations.

e God is not as the wicked think) altogether, such an one as our felves; for, his Ways are not our Ways, nor his Thoughts, our Thoughts: But, as the Heavens are higher than the Earth, so are his Ways higher than our Ways, and his Thoughts than our Thoughts.

f Forasmuch as we are the Off-spring of God, we ought not to think, that the Godhead is like unto Gold, or Silver, or Stone graven by Art, and Man's Device.

He is GREATER than All Things.

& Who is so great a God as our God?

h Thou whole Name alone is Jehovah, art the most High, over all the Earth.

i The Lord our God is God of Gods, and Lord of Lords.

a He

[ocr errors]

. He is far above all Principality, and Power, and Might, and Dominion, and every Name that is named, not only in this World, but also in that which is to come.

6 The Lord is greater than all Gods, and he is to be feared above all Gods: For all the Gods of the Nations are Idols ; but the Lord made the Heavens.

c God is greater than Man. It is he that fitteth upon the Circle of the Earth, and the Inhabitants thereof are as Grashoppers.

d Behold, the Nations are as a drop of a Bucket, and are counted as the small Dust of the Balance : All the Inhabitants of the Earth are reputed as nothing before him ; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and Vanity.

e Who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed to him again.

f God is a Spirit.

8 He is invisible; whom no Man hath seen, nor can see, at any time; neither hath

Man heard his Voice at any time, or seen his Shape.

h The Lord he is the Eternal God, who livesh for ever and ever.
