Having had the satisfaction of making the acquaintance of Rabbi Abraham Belais

I have great pleasure in giving him these lines, and to state that I have held various conversations at the Palace of Kensington with him, where we have discussed several passages in the Old Testament, from whom I recieved great information, and for which I feel greatly obliged. Mr. W. Gillman begs to present his compliments to the Rabbi Abraham Belais, and is honored with the commands of Queen Adelaide to state, that her Majesty has great pleasure in complying with his request, and in adding her name to the list of Subscribers to his forthcoming Commentary on Ecclesiastes.

who love and study thy holy law in order to arrive at its depth, those who meditate in the words of thy prophets and seers in order to comprehend their truths. O Lord, before thee I prostrate myself in humble prayer, that thou mayest impart thy goodness and pour out thy abundant bless

law may be understood and established, and that thy prophets may find a hearing when they exhort the people to religion and morality, as it is said,
