Children brought to CHRIST. C. M.
EHOLD, what condefcending love,
JESUS on earth difplays!

To babes, and fucklings, he extends
The riches of his grace.

He ftill the ancient promise keeps,
To our forefather's giv'n:
Young children in his arms he takes,
And calls them heirs of heav'n.

Let none forbid the new-born race,
To come to CHRIST the Lamb;
They fhall be blefs'd in his embrace,
And glory in his name.

In faith, may we his voice obey,
And give him all he grants:

XCII. Waiting on the LORD. C. M.

OW sweet and awful is this place,

HOW

With CHRIST within the doors:

While everlasting love displays,

The choiceft of her ftores.

Here ev'ry bowel of our GoD
With foft compaffion rolls;
And pardon bought by Jesus' blood,
Is food for dying fouls.

He funk beneath our heavy woes,
To raise us to his throne:
There's not a gift his hand bestows,
But coft his heart a groan.

To Jesus, let us raise our song,
Who spreads for us a feast;

And each cry out, with thankful tongue,
LORD, why am I a guest.

Why am I made to hear thy voice,
And enter while there's room:
While thousands make a wretched choice,
And rather starve than come?

'Twas the fame love that fpread the feaft,
Which sweetly forc'd us in:
Elfe, we had ftill refus'd the call,
And perish'd in our fins.

Pity, the nations, O our GoD,
Compel the world to come;
Send thy victorious word abroad,
And bring the ftrangers home.

We long to fee thy churches full,

That all the chofen race

May, with one heart, and voice, and foul.
Sing thy redeeming grace.

With all the blue etherial fky,
And fpangled heav'ns, the fhining frame,
Their great original proclaim. mu

Th' unwearied fun, from day to day,
Does his Creator's power difplay;
And publishes to ev'ry land,
The work of an Almighty hand.
Soon as the ev'ning fhades prevail,
The moon takes up the wondrous tale
And nightly to the lift'ning earth,
Repeats the ftory of her birth. to

Whilft all the ftars that round her burn,
And all the planets, in their turn,
Confirm the tidings as they roll,
And spread the truth from pole to pole.

What though, in folemn filence, all
Move round the dark terrestrial ball;
What though, nor real voice nor found, s
Amid their radiant orbs be found.
In reafons ear, they all rejoice,
And utter forth a glorious voice;
For ever finging, as they fhine,
"The hand that made us is divine."
