And we, like them, with faith and joy
Expect our risen Lord.

HYMN 120. L. M.

THE

Phil. ii. 8, 9. Col. ii. 15.

WATTS.

THE mighty frame of glorious grace, That brightest monument of praise, That e'er the God of love design'd, Employs and fills my lab'ring mind.

2 Begin, my soul, the heav'nly song,
A burden for an angel's tongue :
When Gabriel sounds these awful things,
He tunes and summons all his strings.

3 Proclaim inimitable love;

Jesus, the Lord of worlds above,
Puts off the beams of bright array,
And veils the God in mortal clay.

4 He that distributes crowns and thrones
Hangs on a tree, and bleeds and groans;
The prince of life resigns his breath,
The King of glory bows to death!
5 But see the wonders of his power,
He triumphs. in his dying hour;
And, while by Satan's rage he fell,
He dash'd the rising hopes of hell.
6 Thus were the hosts of death subdu’d;
And sin was drown'd in Jesus' blood;
Then he arose, and reigns above,
And conquers sinners by his love.

HYMN 121. H. M.

OME, every pious heart

1 Co

STENNETT.

That loves the Saviour's name,

Your noblest power exert

To celebrate his fame:

Tell all above, and all below,
The debt of love to him you owe.

2 He left his starry crown,
And laid his robes aside;
On wings of love came down,
And wept, and bled, and died:
What he endur'd, oh, who can tell?
To save our souls from death and hell.

3 From the dark grave he rose,
The mansion of the dead;
And thence his mighty foes
In glorious triumph led:

Up thro' the sky the conqueror rode,
And reigns on high, the Saviour God.

4 Jesus, we ne'er can pay

The debt we owe thy love;
Yet tell us how we may
Our gratitude approve :

Our hearts-our all to thee we give :
The gift, tho' small, do thou receive.

STEELE.

Intercession. Heb. vii. 25.

He lives, the great Redeemer lives, (What joy the blest assurance gives!

And now, before his Father God,
Pleads the full merit of his blood.

2 Repeated crimes awake our fears,
And justice arm'd with frowns appears;
But in the Saviour's lovely face
Sweet mercy smiles, and all is peace.

3 Hence then, ye black despairing thoughts;
Above our fears. above our faults
His powerful 'ntercessions rise,
And guilt recedes, and terror dies.
4 In every dark distressful hour,
When sin and Satan join their power,
Let this dear hope repel the dart,
That JESUS bears us on his heart.
5 Great Advocate, Almighty Friend-
On him our humble hopes depend:
Our cause can never, never fail,
For JESUS pleads and must prevail.

DUNCAN.

Coronation. Cant. iii. 11.

ALL hail the power of Jesus' name!

Let angels prostrate fall;

Bring forth the royal diadem,

And crown him-Lord of all.

2 Crown him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from his altar call;

Extol the stem of Jesse's rod,
And crown him-Lord of all.

3 Hail him, ye heirs of David's line,
Whom David, Lord did call;
The God incarnate! Man Divine !
And crown him-Lord of all.
4 Ye chosen seed of Israel's race,
Ye ransom'd from the fall,

Hail him who saves you by his grace,
And crown him-Lord of all.

5 Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget
The wormwood and the gall,
Go, spread your trophies at his feet,
And crown him-Lord of all.
6 Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,

To him all majesty ascribe,
And crown him-Lord of all.

RIPPON.

His kingdom. Phil. iv. 4.

1REJOICE, the Lord is king,

Your God and King adore;
Mortals, give thanks, and sing,
And triumph evermore:
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.

2 Rejoice, the Saviour reigns,
The God of truth and love;
When he had purg'd our stains,
He took his seat above:

Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.

CHARACTERS OF CHRIST.

The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus giv❜n:
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.

4 He all his foes shall quell,
Shall all our sins destroy;
And every bosom swell
With pure seraphic joy:
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,
Rejoice aloud, ye saints, rejoice.
5 Rejoice in glorious hope,
Jesus, the Judge, shall come,
And take his servants up

To their eternal home:

125.

We e soon shall hear th' archangel's voice,
The trump of God shall sound, rejoice.

STEELE.

Advocate. 1 John ii. 1.

W humble sighs?

THERE is my God?-does he retire

Are these weak breathings of desire
Too languid to ascend the skies?
