ORDER

MORNING

FOR

SERVICE.

¶ All standing, the Minister may read one or more of the following sentences, or from those in the Collection:

JEHOVAH is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before Him.

ENTER into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless his name. For JEHOVAH is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

SEEK ye JEHOVAH while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto JEHOVAH, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our GOD, for He will abundantly pardon.

EXALT ye JEHOVAH our GOD, and worship at his footstool, for He is holy.

¶ Or, the Minister only may rise, and after the opening sentence or sentences all may kneel, and the Minister say one or more of the following introductory Prayers, or from those in the Collection:

EARCH me, O GOD, and know my heart; try me,

wicked way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.

CAUSE me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning; for in Thee do I trust; cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Thee.

LET the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O JEHOvah, my Strength and my Redeemer.

All standing, the Minister and People may read the following; or, in place of this or following it, one of the responsive lessons from the Psalms:

IVE ear to my words, O JEHOVAH :
Consider my meditation.

Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King and my GOD:
For unto Thee will I pray.

My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O JEHOVAH : In the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up.

For Thou art not a GOD that hath pleasure in wicked

ness:

Neither shall evil dwell with Thee.

The vainglorious shall not stand in thy sight :

Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Thou wilt destroy them that speak falsehood:

JEHOVAH will abhor the man of blood and deceit.

But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy :

In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O JEHOVAH, in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies.

Make thy way straight before my face.

¶ Here may follow the Sanctus [pp. 7-9], or one of the supplicatory Selections [pp. 20—53.]

¶ Then may be read the lesson introductory to the Commandments, or the Lesson from the Old Testament, followed by the Commandments or other Responsive Service from the Collection.

[ocr errors]

The Minister will then say:

COME, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before JEHOVAH our Maker.

¶ All kneeling, such Prayers as may be desired from the Collection may be said, always closing with the Lord's Prayer; or, preceding the Prayers, the following may be said:

AVE mercy upon me, O GOD, according to thy lov

ing-kindness according to the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.

OUR

UR FATHER, Who art in the heavens: Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so also upon the earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever. Amen.

Here, all standing, the following may be sung: [Music, pp. 7 and 8.]

[OLY, holy, holy, JEHOVAH of Hosts:

HOLY,

All the earth is full of his glory. Amen.

The responsive lesson from the Psalms may here follow; and at the end may be sung one of the Doxologies on pp. 9 and 10, or a Selection.

The Minister may read, the People sitting, a lesson introductory to the Commandments, or the Lesson from the Old Testament; after which may be sung, all standing: [For music, see pp. 8 and 9.]

OLY, holy, holy, LORD GOD Almighty:

HOLY,

Who was, and Who is, and Who is to come.

Here may follow the Commandments or other Responsive Service from the Collection, or the Te Dominum or a Selection.

At the close of the Responsive Service a Selection may be sung.

Here may follow the Lessons from the Word, or the Lesson from the New Testament, when the Lesson from the Old Testament has been read as above.

¶ Then, all standing, the Benedictus on page 58 (of the Selections) may be sung, or some other Selection, or an Anthem or a Hymn.

The Sermon.

¶ The Sermon may be followed by an Ascription or Prayer, after which may be read or chanted, by the Minister and People, the Declaration of Faith on pages 192 or 196.

Here may be sung a Selection, Anthem or Hymn, which may be followed by the closing Prayers.

ORDER

FOR

EVENING SERVICE.

¶ All standing, the Minister may read one or more of the following sentences, or from those in the Collection.

JEHOVAH is in his holy temple; let all the earth

keep silence before Him.

HOLINESS becometh thine house, O JEHOVAH, for

ever

BLESS ye JEHOVAH, all ye servants of JEHOVAH, who by night stand in the house of JEHOVAH: lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless JEHOVAH. JEHOVAH that made heaven and earth, bless thee out of Zion.

THUS saith JEHOVAH, that created the heavens ; GOD Himself, that formed the earth and made it. I am JEHOVAH; and there is none else; a just GOD and a Saviour, there is none besides Me.

LOOK unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am GOD, and there is none else.

COME unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek, and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls.

Here one of supplicatory Selections on pages 20-53 may be sung, or read responsively.

Then may follow one or more of the introductions to prayer from the Collection, or the following:
