He was busy revising some of the chapters not long before his death; the original manuscript is filled with interlineations and corrections in his trembling handwriting; to the last he wished to use his failing strength in perfecting the messages that would make his readers better acquainted with the Friend to whom his life was given. Every chapter gives hints of the ripening for heaven of a life that had always been so like the life of the Master that a friend said of him: "The sweetness of his presence in our home was just like what I think the presence of Jesus must have been in the home of Mary and Martha."
