Other advices bring an account of the revolt of the Spanish fettlements in Chili and Peru in S. America; but these accounts come by the way of Scotland, and are not much relied upon. Saturday 30. A Note of Obfervation. It has been held as law, that a witness produced in evidence of the declarations of a deceased person is inadmiffible. This is material, as there are many cafes that may depend entirely on the evidence of a perfon who may be fuddenly taken off, and whofe dying declarations, if attefted, might be fuppofed to have equal weight with his teftimony had he furvived. The friends of this young young baronet, having found reason to fufpect that fome unfair practices had been u'ed to put a period to his life, caufed his grave to be opened, and the body taken out, though more than ten days after its interment. Four furgeons attended, and among other shocking fymptoms which feemed to confirm the current report that he had died by poison, the tongue was found projected from his mouth, fwelled to an enormous fize, and turning upwards, fo as nearly to touch his nofe, and the whole corpfe was a fpectacle of horror fcarce to be endured.
