O One with God the Father.

"Having obtained the help that is from God, I stand unto this day."

Miriam. JOSEPH P. HOLBROOK, 1865.

I. O ONE with God the Father, In maj - es - ty and might, The brightness of His glory, D.S.-The shadows flee before Thee,

2 Yet, Lord, we see but darkly :—
O heavenly Light, arise,
Dispel these mists that shroud us,
And hide Thee from our eyes!
We long to track the footprints
That Thou Thyself hast trod;
We long to see the pathway

That leads to Thee, our God.

3 O Jesus, shine around us

With radiance of Thy grace. O Jesus, turn upon us

The brightness of Thy face.
We need no star to guide us,

As on our way we press,
If Thou Thy light vouchsafest
O Sun of righteousness.

I 'TIS not that I did choose Thee;
For, Lord, that could not be;
This heart would still refuse Thee;
But Thou hast chosen me.
Thou from the sin that stained me

Hast made me pure and free;
Of old Thou hast ordained me,
That I should live to Thee.

2 'Twas sovereign mercy called me,
And taught my opening mind;
The world had else enthralled me,
To heavenly glories blind.
My heart owns none above Thee,
For Thy rich grace I thirst;
This knowing, if I love Thee,
Thou must have loved me first.
JOSIAH CONDER, 1837-

3 Why restless, why cast down, my soul? 2 The least and feeblest there may bide,

Trust God; who will employ

His aid for Thee, and change these sighs
To thankful hymns of joy.

4 I sigh to think of happier days,

When Thou, O Lord, wast nigh; When every heart was tuned to praise, And none more blest than I.

Uninjured and unawed.

While thousands fall on every side,

He rests secure in God.

3 The angels watch him on his way,
And aid with friendly arm;
And Satan, roaring for his prey,
May hate, but cannot harm.

5 Why restless, why cast down, my soul? 4 He feeds in pastures large and fair

Hope still; and thou shalt sing

The praise of Him who is Thy God, Thy health's eternal spring.

Of love and truth divine.

O child of God, O glory's heir,

How rich a lot is thine!

2 My feet shall never slide,
And fall in fatal snares;
Since God, my Guard and Guide,

Defends me from my fears.
Those wakeful eyes which never sleep,
Shall Israel keep when dangers rise.

3 Since Thou hast pledged Thy word To save my soul from death, Shall I not trust Thee, Lord,

To keep my mortal breath!

I'll go and come, nor fear to die,
Till from on high Thou call me home.

The Lord's my Shepherd; I'll not want.
