But floods of grief could ne'er repay The debt of love I owe:

Here, Lord, I give myself away; 'Tis all that I can do.

HYMN 14. 7s.

AVIOUR, when in dust to thee, Low we bow the adoring knee: When repentant to the skies, Scarce we lift our weeping eyes, Oh! by all the pains and woe, Suffer'd once for man below, Bending from thy throne on high; Hear our solemn Litany. By thy helpless infant years, By thy life of want and tears, By thy days of sore distress, In the savage wilderness; By the dread mysterious hour, Of th' insulting tempter's pow'r: Turn Oh! turn a favouring eye, Hear our solemn Litany. By thine hour of dire despair, By thine agony and prayer, By the cross, the nail, the thorn, Piercing spear and torturing scorn: By the gloom that veil'd the skies, O'er the dreadful sacrifice;

Listen to our humble cry,
Hear our solemn Litany.
By thy deep expiring groan,
By the sad sepulchral stone,
By the vault whose dark abode,
Held in vain the rising God:-
Oh! from earth to heav'n restor❜d,
Mighty re-ascending Lord:
Listen, listen, to the cry,
Of our solemn Litany.

MY

SACRAMENT HYMN.

HYMN 17. L. M.

Y God and is thy table spread,
And doth thy cup with love o'erflow?

Thither be all thy children led,

And let them all thy sweetness know. Hail, sacred feast, which JESUs makes,

Rich banquet of His flesh and blood! Thrice happy he who here partakes That sacred stream, that heavenly food. O! let thy table honour'd be,

And furnish'd well with joyful guests! And may each soul salvation see,

That here its sacred pledges tastes. Let crowds approach; with hearts prepar'd, With hearts inflam'd, let all attend; Nor, when we leave our Father's board, The pleasure or the profit end. Revive thy dying churches, Lord, Bid all our drooping graces live, And more, that energy afford, A Saviour's blood alone can give.

HYMN 18. S. M.

ESUS invites his saints

To meet around his board;
Here pardon'd rebels sit and hold
Communion with the Lord.

For food he gives his flesh;
He bids us drink his blood;
Amazing favour! matchless grace
Of our descending God.

This holy Bread and Wine
Maintain our fainting breath,
By union with our living Lord,
And int'rest in his death.

Our heavenly Father calls
Christ and his members one;
We the young children of his love,
And he the first-born Son.

We are but several parts

Of the same broken bread;
One body hath its several limbs,
But Jesus is the head.

Let all our powr's be join'd

His glorious Name to raise; Pleasure and love fill every mind, And every voice be praise.

BREAD

HYMN 19. 9. 8.

READ of the world, in mercy broken,
Wine of the soul, in mercy shed;
By whom the words of life were spoken,
And in whose death our sins are dead.

Look on the heart, by sorrow broken,
Look on the tears, by sinners shed;
And as thy feast, to us the token:
That by thy grace our souls are fed.
