Weak as you are, you shall not faint,
Or fainting, shall not die;

Jesus, the strength of ev'ry saint,
Will aid you from on high.
Though sometimes unperceiv'd by sense,
Faith sees him always near,
A Guide, a Glory, a Defence,
Then what have you to fear.
As surely as He overcame,
And triumph'd once for you,
So surely you that love His name,
Shall triumph in Him too.

HYMN 61. C. M.

NOW may the Lord reveal his face,

And teach our stammering tongues, To make his sov'reign, reigning grace, The subject of our songs!

No sweeter subject can invite
A sinner's heart to sing;

Or more display the glorious right
Of our exalted King.

This subject fills the starry plains
With wonder, joy, and love;
And furnishes the noblest strains
For all the harps above:

While the redeem'd in praise combine
To grace upon the throne,
Angels in solemn chorus join,

And make the theme their own.

Grace reigns, to pardon crimson sins,
To melt the hardest hearts;
And from the work it once begins,
It never more departs.

The world and Satan strive in vain
Against the chosen few;

Secur'd by grace's conqu'ring reign,
They all shall conquer too.

Lord, when this changing life is past,
If we may see thy face,

How shall we praise, and love at last,
And sing the reign of grace.

Yet let us aim while here below
Thy mercy to display;

And own, at least, the debt we owe,
Although we cannot pay.

HYMN 62. C.
C. M.

AM, saith Christ, your glorious head,
(May we attention give)

The resurrection of the dead,
The life of all that live.

By faith in me the soul receives
New life, though dead before;
And he that in my name believes,
Shall live to die no more.

Fulfil thy promise, gracious Lord,
On us assembled here;
Put forth thy SPIRIT with thy word,
And cause the dead to hear.

Preserve the pow'r of faith alive,
In those who love thy name;
For sin and Satan daily strive
To quench the sacred flame.

Thy pow'r and mercy first prevail'd
From death to set us free;
And often since our life had fail'd,
If not renew'd by thee.

To thee we look, to thee we bow,
To thee for help we call;
Our life and resurrection thou,
Our hope, our joy, our all.

HYMN 63. C. M.

THEN I can read my title clear
To mansions in the skies,

W

I'll bid farewell to ev'ry fear,
And wipe my weeping eyes.

Should earth against my soul engage,
And hellish darts be hurl'd,
Then I can smile at Satan's rage,
And face a frowning world.
Let cares like a wild deluge come,
And storms of sorrow fall,
May I but safely reach my home,
My God, my heaven, my all.
There shall I bathe my weary soul
In seas of heav'nly rest,
And not a wave of trouble roll
Across my peaceful breast.

HYMN 64. C. M.

LORD, our languid souls inspire
For here, we trust, thou art!
Send down a coal of heavenly fire,
To warm each waiting heart.
Dear Shepherd of thy people, hear,
Thy presence now display;
As thou hast given a place for pray'r,
So give us hearts to pray.

Within these walls let holy peace,
And love, and concord, dwell;
Here give the troubl'd conscience ease,
The wounded spirit heal.

The feeling heart, the melting eye,
The humbl'd mind, bestow;
And shine upon us from on high,
To make our graces grow!
May we in faith receive thy word,
In faith present our prayers;
And in the presence of our Lord,
Unbosom all our cares.

And may the gospel's joyful sound
Enforc'd by mighty grace,
Awaken many sinners round,
To come and fill the place.

HYMN 65. C. M.

HEN langour and disease invade
This trembling house of clay,

'Tis sweet to look beyond our cage,
And long to fly away.

Sweet to look inward, and attend

The whispers of his love;
Sweet to look upward to the place

Where Jesus pleads above.

Sweet to look back and see my name
In life's fair book set down;
Sweet to look forward, and behold
Eternal joys my own.
