Sweet to reflect how grace divine,
My sins on Jesus laid;

Sweet to remember that his blood
My debt of sufferings paid.

Sweet on his righteousness to stand,
Which saves from second death;
Sweet to experience, day by day,
His Spirit's quick'ning breath.
Sweet on his faithfulness to rest,
Whose love can never end;
Sweet on his covenant of grace,
For all things to depend.

Sweet in the confidence of faith,
To trust his firm decrees;
Sweet to lie passive in his hand,
And know no will but his.

!

If such the sweetness of the stream,
What must the fountain be,
Where saints and angels draw their bliss,
Immediately from thee.

HYMN 66. C. M.

ONG have we heard the joyful sound
Of thy salvation Lord!

Yet still how weak our faith is found,
And knowledge of thy word.

How cold and feeble is our love,
How negligent our fears,

How low our hopes of joys above,
How few affections there.

Great God; thy sov'reign pow'r impart,
To give thy Word success;
Write thy salvation on each heart,
And make us learn thy grace.

Show our forgetful feet the way
That leads to joys on high;
Where knowledge grows without decay,
And love shall never die.

HYMN 67. C. M.

THOU, from whom all goodness flows
I lift my soul to thee;

In all my sorrows, conflicts, woes,
Dear Lord remember me.

When on my aching, burden'd heart
My sins lie heavily,

My pardon speak, new peace impart;
In love remember me..

Temptations sore obstruct my way,
And ills I cannot flee,

O give me strength, Lord, as my day;
In love remember me.

The hour is near, consign'd to death
I own the just decree;
Saviour! with my last parting breath,
I'll cry remember me.

HYMN 68. 7s.

ESUS lover of my soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour! hide,
Till the storm of life be past;
Safe into the haven guide,
-O receive my soul at last!
Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me:

All my trust on Thee is stay'd,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head,
With the shadow of thy wing.
Thou, O Christ, art all I want;
More than all in Thee I find;
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.

Just and holy is thy name;
I am all unrighteousness;
False and full of sin I am;

Thou art full of truth and grace.
Plenteous grace with thee is found,
Grace to cover all my sin;

Let the healing streams abound,
Make and keep me pure within.
Thou of life the fountain art
Freely let me take of Thee:
Spring thou up within my heart,
Rise to all eternity.

HYMN 69. C. M.

HOW sweet the name of Jesus sounds

In a Believer's ear!

It sooths his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubl'd breast;
"Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

Dear name! the rock on which I build,

My shield and hiding-place;

My never-failing treas'ry fill'd

With boundless stores of grace.

60

By thee, my pray'rs acceptance gain,
Although with sin defil'd;
Satan accuses me in vain,

And I am own'd a child.

Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King;
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of

my heart,

And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see thee as thou art,
I'll praise thee as I ought.

Till then, I would thy love proclaim,
With ev'ry fleeting breath;
And may the music of thy name
Refresh my soul in death.

HYMN 70. L. M.

ESUS, the Shepherd of the sheep,
Thy "little flock" in safety keep;

The flock for which thou cam'st from heav'n,
The flock for which thy life was given.

Thou saw'st them wand'ring far from thee,

Secure, as if from danger free;

Thy love did all their wand'rings trace,
And bring them to "a wealthy place."
