"It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes."

THE worship and love of God constitute the true happiness of human creatures. Jesus says, "The hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeketh such to worship him." The Father seeketh such to worship him because he loves all that he has made, and desires that they should be truly happy. To worship God in spirit and in truth is to humble ourselves in acknowledgment that from him alone comes every thing that we call good, every thing that pertains to our spiritual and bodily life. O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the face of the Lord our Maker, is the invitation given to each other by those who feel and who rejoice in feeling that they are recipients of good from him whose mercies are over all his works. Such as can say these words in sincerity of heart are humble towards God and loving towards men. In humility towards him and in love towards one another, they live on earth, and thus walk in the way to heaven, where the affections of humility and benevolence eternally become purer and more active, and cause those who cherish them to become happier and happier forever.

The worship and love of God are most perfect in those who most fully suffer themselves to be regenerated by the Lord; for to worship and love God are not spontaneous impulses of the
