The dragon overcome. Ii And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word os their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Ii Therefore rejoice,ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a stiort time. 13 fl And when the dragon saw that he was cart unto the earth, Tie persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that flie might flv into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wrath with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her feed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. CHAP. XIII. 1 A beast riseth out of the sea with seven heads and ten horns, to 'whom the dragon gi-veth his povuer. 11 Another beast cometh us out of the earth; 14 causeth an image to be made of the former beast, 15 and that men should nuorstiip it, 16 and receive his mark. AN D I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. » And the beast which I saw was like unto A leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his feat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a • mouth speaking great things and blasphemies: and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme ha name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him ova all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. S And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 Isany man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth wkh the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 fl And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. ii And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell thereia to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth, in the sight of men, 14 ^f And decciveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; laying to them that dwell on the earth, That they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a (word, and did live. 15 ^T And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worthip the image of the beast, should be kilUd. 16 fl And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their soreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or fell, save he that had the mark, or the naine of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. AND I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood. on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice ot harpers harping with their harps: 3 And they fung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that long but the hundred andfor Sr and four thousand, which were re- 5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgement is come: and worship him that made heaven, andeaith, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 ^[ And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that freat city, because (he made all nations rink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his sorehead, or in his hand, Io The fame shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he (hall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: Ii And the smoke os their torment ascendeth up foreverand ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship e The reaping of the earth. the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark os his name. ii Here is the patience of the faints: here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Bleised are the dead which die in the Lord, from henceforth: Yea, faith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 14. And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one fat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a (harp fickle. 15 fl And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that fat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that fat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a (harp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the (harp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy (harp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19 fl And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And th? winepress was trodden without the cityj and blood came out of the wineprels, even unto the horsebridles, by the soace of a thousand and fix hundred furlongs. AND I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. a And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisom and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image. 3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the lea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living foul died in the sea. 4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and thev became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters fay, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, ana lhaltbe, because thou hast judged thus. 6 *1 For they have shed the blood os Hunts and prophets, and thou halt given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 7 And I heard another out of the altar, s.iy, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgements. 8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the su.t; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hatb power over these plagnes: and they repented not to give him glory. 10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kinsdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and thtjsores, and repented not of their rieedi. ii And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; ai-i the water thereof was dried up, that th way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth ot the dragon, and out of the mouth of the bciA, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils working miracles, ivhicn go forth unto the kings of the earth, ana of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 ^ Behold, I come as a thief. AN D there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will (hew unto thee the judgement of the great whore, that sitteth upon many waters: x With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 fl So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads, and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthinese of her fornication: 5 fl And upon her forehead teas a name written,MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the faints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not, and (hall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth (hall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 fl And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometb, he must continue a sliort space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. i* And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten king6, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings, one hour with the be?.ft.
