case I have omitted to do so, it must be attributed to inadvertence or ignorance.
I may add, that although I have had much pleasure in passing the work through the press, in consequence of having Christ and His teaching brought most prominently before my mind, it has not been accomplished without intensifying both my mental and physical sufferings; so much, indeed, has this been the case, that I have feared at times I should not be able to complete the task. Having, however, received help from Him whose glory only I seek, I have been enabled to accomplish it. Conscious of inability, especially in my feeble condition of health, to do justice to the important subjects passed under review, I trust that something may be met with which the Holy Spirit will employ for the purpose of conveying to the minds of some clearer views respecting Christ and the object of His mission to this world, and also concerning the Holy Spirit and His work.
To Him who has done more for me than I could have presumed to ask for, and who is, and I trust will continue to be, my consolation and help so long as I remain a pilgrim, this work is dedicated. May He use it as shall best conduce to the glory of His name.
