Numb. xxvii. 12, 14.-And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee

up into this Mount Abarim; and see the land which I have

given unto the children of Israel. And when thou hast seen

it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy

brother was gathered. For ye rebelled against my command-

ment in the desert of Ziñin the strife of the congregation,

to sanctify me at the water before their eyes. That is the

water of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.

Numb. xxxv. 9, 15.-And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When

ye be come over Jordan, into the land of Canaan ; then ye

shall appoint you cities, to be cities of refuge for you ; that

the slayer may flee thither which killeth any person at una-

wares. And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from

the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand be-

fore the congregation in judgment. And of these cities

which ye shail give, six cities shall ye hare for refuge. Ye

shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities

shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities

of refuge. These six citieś stall be a refuge, both for the

children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner

among them ; that every one that killeth any person una-

is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the

land of Gilead, unto Dan, and all Napthali, and the land of

Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah unto the

utmost sea, and the south, and the plain of the valley of Jeri-

cho, the city of palm-trees, unto Zoar. And the Lord said

unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham,

unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy

seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou

shalt not go over thither. So Moses the servant of the Lord

died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the

Lord. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab,

over against Beth-peor : but no man knoweth of his sepul-

chre unto this day.

Deut. xxxiv. 10. 12,—And there arose not a prophet since

in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face :

in all the signs and the wonders which the Lord sent him to

do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants,

and to all his land, and in all that inighty hand, and in all the
great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

Deut. xviii. 15, 18,-Acts iii. 22,—The Lord thy God will

raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy

brethren like unto me: unto him ye shall hearken. AC-

cording to all that thou desirest of the Lord thy God in Ho-

reb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear

again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this

great any more, that I die not. And the Lord said unto

me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like

unto thee, and will put my words in his niouth, and he shall

speak unto them all that I shall command him. For Moses

truly said unto the father's, A Prophet shall the Lord your

God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me, him

shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
