my prayer be unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: in the multitude of thy mercy hear me; in the truth of thy salvation (b). Help me, O Lord my God, for I rest on thee (c), and the day of trouble is near (d). Through thee have I been holden up ever since I was born (e); leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation(ƒ): be thou my guide, even unto death (g).

O Lord, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee (h): strengthen me upon the bed of languishing, make all my bed in my sickness (i). Unto thee belong the issues from death (j): thou art our life and

the length of our days (k). My times are in thy hand(); O bring thou me out of my distresses (m).

Lord, look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and thy glory (n). O look upon mine affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins (o). O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days (p): spare me, that I may recover my strength, before I go hence, and be no more seen (q). Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt: thy will be done(r).

Now the God of patience and consolation grant(s) that in patience I

may possess my soul(t): that whether I live, I may live unto the Lord; and, whether I die, I may die unto the Lord; that whether I live, therefore, or die, I may be the Lord's (u), through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (v), to whom be glory and dominion, for ever and ever. Amen (w).

my cry; give ear unto my prayer that goeth not out of feigned lips (a). O Lord, my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me (b). Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me(c): deliver me out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem me out of the hand of the terrible (d). For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue: they have compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause (e). O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be such iniquity in my hands; let the enemy

persecute my soul and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust (ƒ). O Lord, I am oppressed; undertake for me (g); unto thee do I commit my cause (h). Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal (¿): let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercies are great, and let me not fall into the hand of man (j). He will plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness (k); for my defence is of him who saveth the upright in heart (7). I will commit my way unto him; I will trust
