of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me(j).

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him (k). The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid (l)? Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet will I rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation (m). Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen (n).

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING.

PRAISE OF THE CREATOR.

Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, "I have made the earth, and created man upon it; I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. Isaiah, xlv. 11, 12.

THOU, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth (a).* Thou, even thou, art Lord alone: thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth,

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy work (g): for by the breath of the Lord were the heavens made, and

PRAISE OF THE REDEEMER.

I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. St. Luke, iv. 34.

O LORD, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever (a); Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (b), thy name is from everlasting (c), THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS (d). Thou art just, and having salvation (e), in thy love and in thy pity thou didst redeem us(ƒ); thou hast borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: wast stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted: thou
