PRAISE OF THE ETERNITY OF GOD.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. Psalm xlv. 6.

O LORD, my God, mine Holy One, thou art from everlasting (a). Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God (b). Thou, O Lord, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation (c). Of old hast thou laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of thine hands: they shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old as a garment; as a ves

ture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end (d). Thou art the first, and the last; and beside thee there is no God (e).

Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow, that passeth away (f); yet thou carest for him (g), saying, "Fear not, thou worm! I will help thee, and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel(h)," for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength (i). Thou hast brought life and immortality to light through

the Gospel, by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ (j), who will change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body(k), and will make us Kings and Priests unto thee (1), and we shall reign with him for ever and ever (m).

Now unto thee, the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory, for ever and ever. Amen (n).

PRAISE OF THE WISDOM OF GOD.

The foolishness of God is wiser than men; Rom. i. 25: and the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. Rom. iii. 19.

BLESSED be thy name, O God, for ever and ever, for wisdom and might are thine. Thou givest wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: thou revealest the deep and secret things: thou knowest what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with thee (a). Thou hast made the earth by thy power, thou hast established the world by thy wisdom, and stretched out the heavens by thy discretion (b).

Thou art

wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working (c).

Thou, Lord, art a God of knowledge, and by thee actions are weighed(d): with thee is wisdom and strength; thou hast counsel and understanding(e); thou takest the wise in their own craftiness(f); and makest the devices of the people of none effect(g). Othe depth both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out (h)! For who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the
