And now, O Lord, I sum up all my desires in that most perfect form of prayer, which our Lord Himself hath taught us in His holy Gospel :

Our Father, Which art in heaven, &c.

THANKSGIVINGS. BLESSED be God for those comfortable words our Saviour Christ hath spoken to all that truly turn to Him:

Come unto Me all ye that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you:

Matt. xi. 28. So God loved the world, that He gave His Onlybegotten Son; to the end that all who believe in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John ii. 16. Blessed be His divine goodness for the glad tidings His apostles also have published, declaring to us

This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

1 Tim. i. 15. If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous, and He is the propitiation for our sins.

1 John ii, 1.

Glory be to God on high, and in earth peace, good-will towards men. I praise Thee, I bless Thee, I worship Thee, I glorify Thee, I give thanks to Thee, (together with all Thy faithful servants, who are publickly acknowledging Thee) for Thy great glory, O Lord God, Heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

O Lord, the Only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, That takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon

Thou That takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon me.

Thou That takest away the sins of the world, receive my prayer.

Thou That sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon me.

For Thou only art holy; Thou only art the Lord ; Thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep my heart and mind in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord: and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with me, and remain with me always. Amen.

for love to the Holy Communion.

O BLESSED LORD, I acknowledge and adore the wisdom of Thy love, and bless Thy tender care of our salvation, in ordaining holy mysteries as pledges of that love, and for a continual remembrance of Christ's death and passion, until His coming again. And since Thou hast given us to feel the power of Thy love at the holy feast Thou hast appointed, uniting our heart unto Thee, exciting our obedience, and filling us with hope and heavenly joy in Thee, -Ogrant that I may be strongly inclined to do this for ever in honour of Thee, and of Thine exceeding great charity in laying down Thy life for us. Dispose me, I beseech Thee, O Lord, to delight to do Thy will in all things, and especially to commemorate Thy dying love with the cheerful devotion of a grateful heart, representing Thy loving kindness so lively to me, that I may offer up continually my soul and body with the most ardent love to Thy service. O that it may please Thee to possess my mind with such a constant sense of our deep obligation unto Thee, that I may gladly improve all occasions to shew forth Thy praise, to renew my PRAYER FOR LOVE TO THE HOLY COMMUNION. 95

vows, to give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits, and glory in the assured hope of Thy grace and mercy unto eternal life. And grant, I pray Thee, Lord, that the rest of my time in this world may pass in purity and righteousness, in charity and godliness ; and that, by every new remembrance of Thee, I may continually increase in these and all other Christian graces, until I have perfected holiness in Thy fear, rejoicing more and more in an humble confidence that Thou wilt never leave me, nor forsake me; but wilt in the end call me to sit down and feast in the eternal supper of the Lamb, in the joys of Thine everlasting kingdom. Amen, Amen.
