2 Come, Holy Ghost, my soul inspire,

234. *
Attest that I am born again ;
Come and baptize me, Lord, with fire, THOU great Teacher, who instructest
Nor let thy former gifts be vain:

Christ's flock, and us to bliss conductest,
Grant me a sense that I'm forgiv'n,

Who noblest gifts to grant didst deign A pledge that I'm an heir of heav'n. To th' apostles, thine anointed,

By thee for that great work appointed 3 Grant me th' indisputable seal, To teach, reprove and comfort men,

That ascertains the kingdom mine! And freely offer grace
That pow'rful stamp I long to feel, Unto the Gentile race;
The signature of love divine:

Lord, have mercy!
Oshed it in my heart abroad, Grant us to be-Immoveably
Fulness of love, of heav'n, of God! Fix'd on their ground, upheld by thee!

7 Come, sinners, come, tho' vile and His love exceedeth our conception. He left his throne and blest abode,

Returning prodigals he meeteth; To bear the sinner's heavy load.

My Saviour sinners doth receive. Artful doubts and reas'nings be

experience and believe COME, yesinners, poor and wretched, That Jesus sinners doth receive ! Weak and wounded, sick and sore!

Jesus ready stands to save you, 237.* T, 205.

Full of pity, love and pow'r :

He is able, :1 SINNERS! come, the Saviour see,

He is willing ; doubt no more. Hands, feet, side, and temples view; See him bleeding on the tree, 2 Ho! ye needy, come and welcome; See his heart is pierc'd for you!

God's free bounty glorify: View awhile, then haste away,

True belief, and true repentance, Find a thousand more, and say, Ev'ry grace that brings us nigh, Come, ye sinners, come with me,

'Without money, :/: View him bleeding on the tree. Come to Jesus Christ and buy.

But all

3 Come, ye weary, heavy-laden, 13 Think how on the cross he hung, Lost and ruin'd by the fall,

Pierc'd with a thousand wounds! · If ye tarry till ye're better,

Hark, from each as with a tongue Ye will never come at all,

The voice of pardon sounds! Not the righteous, :fl: See, from all his bursting veins, Sinners Jesus came to call.

Blood, of wondrous virtue, flow! 4. Let not conscience make you linger,

Shed to wash away thy stains,

And ransom thee from woe.
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness he requireth,

4 Tho' his majesty be great, Is to feel your need of him;

His mercy is no less;
This he gives you, ill:

Tho' he thy transgressions hate,
'Tis the Spirit's glimm’ring beam. He feels for thy distress:
5 Agonizing in the garden,

By himself the Lord hath sworn,

He delights not in thy death;
Lo,
your
Maker
prostrate lies !

But invites thee to return,
On the bloody tree behold him,
Hear him

That thou may'st live by faith
before he dies;
cry
" It is finish'd !” :/:

5 Raise thy downcast eyes, and see Sinner, will not this suffice ?

What throngs his throne surround!

These, thoʻsinners once like thee, 6 Lo! th' incarnate God ascended

Have full salvation found : Pleads the merit of his blood;

Yield not then to unbelief! Venture on him, venture freely,

While he saith," there yet is room;" Let no other trust intrude;

Tho' of sinners thou art chief,
None but Jesus ://:

Since Jesus calls thee, come,
Can do helpless sinners good.
7 Saints and angels, join'd in concert,

T. 22. Sing the praises of the Lamb;

COME, sinners, to the gospel-feast; While the blissful seats of heaven

Let ev'ry soul be Jesus' guest; Sweetly echo with his name: Not one of you need stay behind; Hallelujah! :/:

His gospel calleth to mankind. Sinners, here, may sing the same.

2 Attend! the gospel trumpet sounds,

Callssinners from earthsfarthest bounds, 239.

The year of Jubilee is come! SINNER, hear thy Saviour's call, Return, ye ransom'd sinners, home. He now is passing by;

3 Come all ye souls by sin opprest, He hath seen thy grievous thrall, Ye wand'rers, who are seeking rest;

And heard thy mournful cry: The poor, the maim'd, the halt, the blind, He hath pardon to impart,

With Christ a hearty welcome find. Grace to save thee from thy fears;

4 The message as from God receive; See the love that fills his heart,

Ye all may come to Christ and live; And wipe away thy tears.

O let his love your hearts constrain, 2 Why art thou afraid to come, Nor suffer him to die in vain ! And tell him all thy case?

5 His love is mighty to compel; He will not pronounce thy doom,

His conqu’ring love consent to feel: Nor frown thee from his face:

Yield to his love's almighty pow's, Wilt thou fear Immanuel ? Wilt thou dread the Lamb of God, And strive against your God no more.

6 See him set forth before your eyes,, Who, to save thy soul from hell, Hath shed his precious blood?

A precious bleeding sacrifice! ..

T. 591.

His offer'd benefits embrace, 15 In search of empty joys below,
And freely now be sav'd by grace.

Ye toil with unavailing strife: 7 This is the time, no more delay;

Whither, ah! whither would ye go?

Christ hath the words of endless life. This is the acceptable day: Come in this moment, at his call, 6 To you he calls,“ my goodness And live for him, who dy'd for all ! prove,

My promises for all are free: 241. T. 22.

O taste my everlasting love,

And let your souls delight in me." SINNERS, obey the Gospel word! Haste to the supper of the Lord : Be wise to know your gracious day!

243.

T. 205. All things are ready; come away!

SINNERS, hear the joyful news,

God, your Maker, is your Friend: 2 Ready the Father is to own,

Think not, that his wrath pursues,
And kiss his late returning son:

That his curses you attend.
Ready your loving Saviour stands,
And spreads for you his pierced hands. “As I live.” Jehovah saith,

" I do not desire

your death, 3 Ready the Spirit to impart " Rather, rather would I see Grace to subdue the stubborn heart;

• Each

poor

sinner turn to me.' To shed Christ's love in you abroad,

2 O then turn to him, and live, And witness you are born of God.

Turn to him with all your woe ; 4 Ready for you the angels wait, He is ready to forgive, To triumph in your blest estate:

Ready blessings to bestow.
All heav'n is ready to resound, Outstretch'd see his arms of love,
“The dead's alive, the lost is found !" Haste his tender heart to prove;
5 Come, sinners, to your gracious Lord, Haste, ye sinners, you will find,

Jesus casteth none behind,
your ear, and hear his word;
His offer'd grace with joy receive,
Hear sinners, and your souls shall live,

244.
