13 Therefore we were comiorted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joy. ed we for the joy of Thus, because his spirit was refreshen by you all.

14 For if I have boafted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even fo our boafting, which I made betore Titus, is found a truth.

15 And his inward affection is more abun. dant toward you, whilft he reinembereth the obedience of you all, how with tear and trembling ye received him.

16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

2 Receive us: we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded

no min.

3fpeak not this to condemn you: for I have faid before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.

4 Great is my boldnefs of fpeech toward you, great is my glorying of you; I am rilled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

s For, when we were come into Macedo nia, our fleth had no reft, but we were troubled on every fide; without were fightings, with in were fears.

6 Nevertheless, God, that coriforteth thofe that are caft down, comforted us by the coning of Titus;

7 And not by his coming only, but by the confolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earneft defire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

8 For though I made you forry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the fame epifle hath made you forry, though it were but for a season.

9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made forry, but that ye forrowed to repentance: for ye were made forry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

to For godly forrow worketh repentance to falvation not to be repented of: but the forrow of the world worketh death.

II For behold this felf fame thing, that ye forrowed after a godly fort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourfelves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement defire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this

matter.

12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his caufe that had done the wrong, nor for his caufe that fuffered wrong, but that our care for you in the fight of God might appear unto you.

churches of Macedonia;

2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

4 Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the miniftering to the faints.

5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but firit gave their own felves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

6 Infomuch that we defired Titus, that as he had begun, fo he would also finish in you the fame grace alfo.

7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in taith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, fee that ye abouni in this grace alfo.

8 I fpeak not by commandment, but by occafion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the fincerity of your love.

9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jefus Chrift, that, though he was rich, yet for your fakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, fo there may be a performance alfo ou. of that which ye have.

12 For if there be firft a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance alfo may be a fupply for your want: that there may be equality:

15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

16 But thanks be to God, which put the faine earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.

Paul commendeth

9 And when I was prefent with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia fupplied and in all things I have kept myfelt from being burdenfome unto you, and fo will I keep my self.

10 As the truth of Chrift is in me, no man fhall ftop me of this boafting in the regions of Achaia.

II Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occafion from them which defire Occafion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

13 For fuch are falfe apoftles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apoitles of Chrift.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his minifters alfo be transformed as the minif. ters of righteoufnefs; whofe end shall be according to their works.

161 fay again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwife, yet as a tool receive me, that I may boat myfelt a little.

17 That which I fpeak, I fpeak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boafting.

18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory alfo.

19 For ye futter fools gladly, feeing ye yourselves are wife.

21 I fpeak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit, where, infoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold alfo.

22 Are they Hebrews? fo am I. Are they Ifracutes? fo am I. Are they the feed of Abraham? fo am I.

23 Are they minifters of Chrift? (I fpeak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in ftripes above measure, in prifons more tre quent, in deaths oft.

24 Of the Jews five times received I forty fripes fave one.

25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I ftoned, thrice I fuffered fhipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

27 In wearinefs and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirit, in fattings often, in cold and nakedness.

28 Befide thofe things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

20 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

30 If I muft needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

31 The God and Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, which is bleffed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

7 And left I fhould be exalted above meafure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the feth, the meffenger of Satan to buffet me, left i thould be exalted above measure.

2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gofpel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, left by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I wi hitood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

14 But when I faw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gofpel, I faid unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, liveft after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compelieft thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews!

15 We who are Jews by nature, and not finners of the Gentiles,

16 Knowing that a man is not juftified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jefus Chritt, even we have believed in Jefus Chrift, that we might be juftified by the faith of Chrift, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law thall no flesh be juftiffed.

17 But if while we seek to be juftified by Chrift, we ourselves alfo are found finners, is therefore Chrift the minister of fin? God forbid.

18 For if I build again the things which L destroyed, I make myself a tranfgreffor.

19 For I through the law am dead to the

20 I am crucified with Chrift: neverthe lefs, live; yet pot I, but Chrift liveth in me? and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himselt for me.

21 I do not fruitrate the grace of God: for if righteoufnefs come by the law, then Chrift is dead in vain.
