HE refpected Patrons of the NEW-YORK MISSIONARY MAGAZINE are now presented with the first volume complete. The Publisher has endeavoured to comply with the terms of publication, originally propofed, as far as poffible; and he trufts no material deviation from them has been perceived by his candid readers. But whatever may be their judgment with respect to the merit of the work, he has many acknowledgments to make for the favourable reception they have given it.

To thofe correfpondents who have honoured this Miscellany with their valuable communications, many thanks are due. A continuance of their esteemed favours will be gratefully acknowledged. To thofe gentlemen who have kindly contributed their advice and affiftance, in the arduous duty of conducting the publication, the Publisher confiders himself under great obligations. That the reward of seeing the work of the Lord profper may be bestowed on them, and on every friend to the Redeemer's kingdom, is his ardent hope and prayer.

So much encouragement has been hitherto received in this work, that the Pubisher does not hesitate to announce his intention to profecute it with unremitted and increafing diligence. He will fpare no pains to improve it, and to render it, in all refpects, as worthy of public patronage as poffible. The increase of Miffionary Affociations, and the extenfion of Miffionary enterprizes in the United States;-the continued attention to religion in many parts of our country;--the highly important and interesting events which are daily taking place in the Chriftian Church;—and the means of in
