HYMN XIII

WE'LL proclaim the wond'rous story Of mercies we receive,

From the day-spring's dawning glory, "Till the fading hours of eve.

All the blessings heav'n is lending,
We'll extol in grateful lays;
To his radiant throne ascending,
Wafted on the wings of praise.

To exalted rapture joining,
We'll employ our happy days;
All our grateful hearts combining
To declare his endless praise.

HYMN XIV.

To him, whose temple is all space,
Whose altar, earth, sea, skies,
One voice let all his creatures rise!
All nature's incense rise!

Vile though I am, yet made by thee,
And quick'ned by thy breath,
O lead me safe, from dangers free,
Through this day's life, or death !

This day be bread and peace my lot;
All else beneath the sun,

Thou knowest best, bestow'd, or not: And let thy will be done!

HYMN XV.

How are thy children blest, O Lord!
How sure is their defence!
Eternal wisdom is their guide,

Their aid, Omnipotence."

In foreign realms and lands remote,
Supported by thy care,

Through bugging climes they pass unhurt,'
Or breathe in tainted air.

Thy mercy sweetens ev'ry soil,
Bids ev'ry region please,

The icy mountain's top it warms,
And smooths the raging seas.

HYMN XVI

O LET my soul devoutly think
How, with affrighted eyes,
It saw the awful hand of death
In all its terrors rise!

Yet then from all my dread, O Lord!
Thy mercy set me free;
Whilst, in the confidence of pray'r,
My heart took hold on thee.

In all my dangers, fears, and death,
Thy goodness I'll adore,

And praise thee for thy mercies past,
And humbly hope for more,

HYMN XVII.

WHEN all thy mercies, O my God,
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm lost
In wonder, love, and praise.

Oh, how shall words with equal warmth
The gratitude declare.

Which glows within my thankful heart!→→
But thou can'st read it there.

Through ev'ry period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue,

And, after death, in distant worlds
The glorious theme renew.
