Act. 5 20. Go, stand and speak in the tem- | ministry, for the edifying of the body of ple to the people all the words of this life. Christ.

Act. 18.9. Be not afraid, but speak, and Col. 4.17. Take heed to the ministry which hold not thy peace: 10. For I am with thee, thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fuland no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for fil it. I have much people in this city.

Act. 20.28. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

1 The. 5.12. Know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you.

1 Tim. 1.3. Charge some that they teach no other doctrine. 4. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

1 Tim. 1.18. War a good warfare; 19. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.

Rom. 2.21. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 22. Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? 23. Thou that makest thy boast of 1 Tim. 3.1. This is a true saying, If a man the law, through breaking the law dishonour-desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good est thou God? work. 2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5. (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 15. If I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God.

Rom. 10.14. How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Isa. 52.7.

Rom. 12.6. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7. Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering; or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8. Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. v. 3-5. Rom. 15.17. I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. 29. I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. 1 Cor. 3.5. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6. Í have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

1 Cor. 4.2. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. v. 1. 1 Cor. 9.10. That he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

2 Cor. 2.14. Thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 15. We are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16. To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life: and who is sufficient for these things?

2 Cor. 4.7. We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

2 Cor. 8.23. They are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

Eph. 4.11. He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the

1 Tim. 4.6. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 7. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 12. Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1 Tim. 5.17. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 21. I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

1 Tim. 6.11. O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 13. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14. That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ. 20. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

21. Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.

2 Tim. 1.6. I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 13. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

2 Tim. 2.1. My son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2. The things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3. Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5. If a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

2 Tim. 2.14. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly | dividing the word of truth. 16. Shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 20. In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. (See v. 16,17.)

2 Tim. 2.23. Foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26. And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2 Tim. 3.14. Continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Tim. 4.1. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 5. Watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Tit. 1.5. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: 6. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. 7. For

a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8. But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 13. Rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; 14. Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

Tit. 2.1. Speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. 7. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8. Sound speech, that connot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 15. Speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Tit. 3.8. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. 9. Avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. (See Epistles to Timothy, and Titus, in full.)

Heb. 5.12. Ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. v. 14.

Heb. 13.7. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation: 8. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. 17. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Jas. 3.1. My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 13. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. v. 3,17,18.

1 Pet. 4.10. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

1 Pet. 5.1. The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder. 2. Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3. Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away
