Graduates are prepared for the L.T. Degree of the Allahabad University. Forty scholarships of Rs. 45 each for one year are awarded annually to Graduates and sixteen of Rs. 30 each tenable for two years to Undergraduates.

There is a Boarding-house attached to the College.

KING GEORGE'S MEDICAL COLLEGE, LUCKNOW. AFFILIATED IN MEDICINE, 1912.

During the visit of H. R. H. George Prince of Wales to India in 1906 a movement was set on foot by the gentry and Talukdars of Agra and Oudh to raise subscriptions to found a Medical College in the Provinces in commemoration of his visit.

The appeal was warmly responded to and sufficient money raised to build and equip a College of Medicine; and King George's College was thus founded.

On his last visit to India for the Coronation Darbar, His Majesty gave his consent to his name being used in the designation of the College.

The College was built in the Indo-Saracenic style from designs by Sir Swinton Jacob. It has accommodation for teaching Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Bacteriology to about 120 students, and its cost with houses for the staff and hostels for the students including equipment was about twelve lakhs of rupees.

It is supported by Government and has in addition to six scholarships in each year given by the U. P Government and a varying number given by the C. P. Government, the following endowment for prizes and scholarships:

(1) MacDonnell Fund Scholarships Endowment Trust for lady students.

(2) Bhinga Raj Kshatriya. Scholarships Endowment

Trust.

(3) Raja Raghuber Dayal Scholarships Endowment

Trust.

(4) Nasrullah Khan Prize Endowment Trust.

(5) Pandit Devi Sahai Misra's Hewett Gold Medal Endowment Trust.

(6) Batool Bursary Endowment Trust.

The object of the College is to educate students of the Allahabad University, both men and women, who are already sufficiently qualified in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, in the subjects of the degree of M.B., B.S.

To provide the clinical teaching necessary in such curriculum, a Hospital of 232 beds and a large Out-Patient Department have been built by Government and an Eye Department at the cost of the Trustees of the Gaya Prasad Trust of Cawnpore.

This Hospital which is called King George's Hospital and Queen Mary's Hospital for women, was opened for the reception of patients in July, 1913.
