156. Is human depravity strong, obstinate, and desperate?

Ex. 32. 9. And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. Dt. 9. 6, 13.

Pr. 5. 22. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

Pr. 27. 22. Though thou shouldst bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

Ec. 9. 3. The heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live.

Is. 30. 9. This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord.

160. Is the moral depravity of unregenerate persons total?

Gen. 6. 5. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Ps. 5. 9. There is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. The ploughing of the wicked is sin. The heart of the sons of men is fully set evil. Ec. 9. 3.

Pr. 21. 4. Ec, 8. 11. in them to do Is. 1. 5. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head, there is no soundness in it: but wounds and bruises and putrifying sores.
