19 F But when Herod was dead, before the common account called behold, an angel of the Lord appear

the Pharisees, 13 and baptizeth Christ in Jordan. A. D. 26. IN those days came a John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judæa,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The 'voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a "leathern girdle about his loins; forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O
children of Israel ? saith the LORD. But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. Acts, xxiv. 5: For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ring-leader, of the sect of the Nazarenes.
CHAP. III. a Mark, i. 4: John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins. Luke, iii. 2: The word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
