Let every act of worship be
Full of espousals' love to thee;
In faith, as when, born from above,
We first received the pledge of love.
Let every moment, as it flies,

Increase thy praise,—increase our joys,
Till raised to sound on harps thy name,
And taste the supper of the Lamb.

AT thy command, our dearest Lord,
Here we attend thy dying feast;
Thy blood, like wine, adorns thy board,
And thine own flesh feeds every guest,
By faith we view thy bleeding love;
And trust for life in one that died:
We hope for heavenly crowns above,
From a Redeemer crucified.

JESUS, (once for sinners slain,

Buried once, and raised again,)
Now at God's right hand supreme
Reigns, and we shall reign with him.
Here assembling, we, by faith,
Till he come, show forth his death;
Eat his flesh,-this loaf the sign;
Drink his blood, its emblem-wine.
Jesus, though not seen, ev'n here,
With us holds communion dear;
We, with the redeemed above,
Celebrate his dying love.

THE THRONE OF GRACE.

7's.

MET again in Jesus' name,

At the throne of grace to bow;
He, who to redeem us came,
Hears us, sees us, meets us now.
We can never meet in vain,
Though we number but a few,
Since his promise does remain,
"Lo! I always am with you."
Casting, Lord, our care on thee;
Meeting thus on thee to call;
Jesus, now and ever be

"In the midst" to bless us all.

[blocks in formation]

LORD Jesus, we delight in thee,
And on thy care depend;

To thee in every trouble flee,
Our able, willing friend.

When all created streams are dried,

Thy fulness is the same; We, from thy fulness satisfied,

Delight to bless thy name.

We cast our care, O Lord, on thee, And view thy gifts in store; Henceforth our great concern shall be, To love and serve thee more.

HOW happy! all who know the Lord, With whom he deigns to dwell;

He feeds and cheers us by his word;
His arm supports us well.
To us, in each distressing hour,
His throne of grace is near;

And when we plead his love and power,
He stands engaged to hear.

His presence sweetens all our cares,
And makes our burdens light;
His word of truth dispels our fears,
And turns to day our night.
(Lord, we expect affliction here,
Nor would we e'er repine,
For thou, O Faithful One, art near,
To own us ever thine.)

Lord, we enjoy, and highly prize
These tokens of thy love:
Soon thou shalt bid our spirits rise,
To sing thy praise above.

[blocks in formation]

THE food on which thy children live,
Great God, is thine alone to give
And we, for grace received, would raise
A song of gratitude and praise.

How vast, how full, how free, how fair,
Blest Lord, thy heavenly treasures are!
To thee, full fountain of our joys,
We gladly come for fresh supplies.
For these we wait upon thee, Lord,
In love we listen to thy word;

Thy doctrines drop like gentle rain,

Nor can our souls attend in vain.

[blocks in formation]

BEHOLD the throne of grace!
The promise calls me near;

My great High Priest is there to bless,
For there he hears my prayer.
His all-atoning blood,
Which, sprinkled round, I see;
Gives each who comes through him to God,
An all-prevailing plea.

Beyond my utmost wants

His love and power can bless; To all my prayers of faith he grants More than all prayers express.

PRESERVED by power divine
To meet each other here;

Again in Jesus' praise we join,
And in his courts appear.

What troubles have we seen!
What conflicts have we passed!
Fightings without, or fears within,
Since we assembled last.

Yet out of all the Lord

Has brought us in his love;
And still does blessings here afford,
Still hides our lives above.

We therefore make our boast
Of Jesus' power and love;

He saves unto the uttermost,
Till we arrive above.

OUR Father, whose eternal sway
The bright angelic hosts obey,
O lend a pitying ear:

When on thy hallowed name we call,
And in thy Son before thee fall,
Oh! condescend to hear.

Soon, Father, may thy kingdom come,
And all thy saints be gathered home,
And God be all in all;

Till then may each on earth fulfil,
As angels do, thy sacred will,

Nor e'er from duty fall.

From thy kind hand may temp'ral good,
Our raiment, and our needful food,
In daily plenty come:

Lord, grant, while here, the due supply;
If thou withhold thy hand we die,
And drop into the tomb.

O! all forgive, since last we prayed;
O Advocate! still intercede;

And, while we're each forgiven,

Grant that revenge may never rest;
Nor malice harbor in the breast

That feels the love of heaven.

The ransom paid, (his precious blood,)
