BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the twentieth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, and of the independence of the United States the fifty-third, FRANCOIS-XAVIER MARTIN, of the said district, hath deposited in the Clerk's office for the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as author, to wit:
“ The History of North Carolina, from the earliest period. By François-Xavier Martin.

Gal. lib. 16, cap. 23. In conformity to an act of Congress of the United States, entitled “ An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned;" and also, to the act entitled “ An act supplementary to an act, entitled ' an act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned,' and ex. tending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving and etching historical and other prints."
